The game oozed with style, excellent gameplay, and a unique sense of humor. This carried them through several subsequent iterations of the series on multiple platforms. Now, three years later, Clover Studio have blasted onto the scene once again with the tale of a god out to save the world. Okami released on September 19, 2006. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.2 Story ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here we have the epic quest of a god reborn in the human world to save them from a foul beast, a beast which would stop at nothing to cover the world of Nippon in darkness. This god is Okami Amaterasu. Amaterasu's quest to stop the evil Orochi will transcend that which you have ever experienced and take you across a world which has been robbed of color and life. Your mission as Amaterasu is to restore that life... and save the world from darkness. =============================================================================== ===== 2.0 THE BASICS ========================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.1 Game Start ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Press Start to Begin the Story New Game ========= Select this to begin a new game. All that stuff can be found in the appropriate sections found via the table of contents. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.1 Cut Down the Peach ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kamiki Village ================ Amaterasu enters the world... in ruins. Move to the left side of the tree and investigate the large fruit hanging from the branch, only to hear from your new noisy friend that you need a special power to cut it down. Enter the brilliant light at the base of the tree. River of the Heavens ====================== Proceed North across the field and over the bridge. As you pass by the bridge you'll be asked to Save your progress in the Origin mirror, which I would also suggest. Continue northward and break the group of pots for some cold hard Yen in your pouch, then swing a right and get to the cliff. Here you'll be required to jump high then press jump against the wall to jump higher, over the edge to the chest. Bust it open to get a Holy Bone S, then take some time to break the scattered pots and clay horses. Once you're set, continue north to the broken bridge. Issun will show off his one brush power called Rejuvenation by filling in the gap on the bridge. Cross over and follow the path to the right. This will take you up a hill. Witness Issun's failed attempt at painting a star then give it a shot yourself to complete the pattern. After the scene you will be given the power of Rejuvenation, just like Issun. Run back down to the riverbed and hold R1 to enter the brush screen. Hold Square and brush the area between your side of the river and the other side to fill it in and complete the stardust river. Swim across to the torches at the other end and open the chest to get the Astral Pouch. The pouch is used to gather food, and if you happen to die when the pouch is full your health will be completely restored. Bash open the scattered pots to find Yen and some food. Enter the light in the tunnel to continue. Cave of Nagi ============== Proceed north up the hill and over the bridge. Make sure to explore around the river to get pots and a chest before continuing down the path. Explore around on the other side of the rock overhang to find more pots and goodies, and when you're ready proceed up the path to the Cave of Nagi. Inside here you'll find a few pots and one big, wrecked statue. It's time to employ that handy Rejuvenation brush power. Go into brush mode and brush up along the length of the sword to fill it in. This will fill in the sword, which points up to the constellation of the Tachigami, the mouse. Tachigami will now teach you the Power Slash brush power. This can be used to cut through objects or enemies with a single line from your celestial brush. Use that power to cut the boulder, then exit the cave. Use it again to cut through the gate. Run down the hill and chop down every tree along the way to collect food and Yen. At the bottom you'll have to face off against a few enemies within a circle of flame. Use the Divine Retribution reflector (Square button) to attack them, as well as the Power Slash brush power. Continue down the path while chopping down everything until you get near the next gate, where another battle will ensue. Use the same techniques to defeat them. Run through the gate to exit. River of the Heavens ====================== Run all the way down the path to the next gate. Kamiki Village ================ Get the peach in full view and use Power Slash to cut it down from the branch. The peach will fall and explode into a wave of light and green, returning the village of Kamiki to its former splendor. Proceed down the path. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.2 Restoring Kamiki Village ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kamiki Village ================ As you run down you'll see a frozen villager and a path to the left. Run up that side path to get an overhead view of the village. Return to the main path and head into the village. Investigate a few of the frozen villagers, including the little woman on the pier near the river, then return to the sacred deck above the hill. From here, Issun will talk about painting the sun in the sky. Bring out the Celestial Brush and draw a circle to give it a shot. Ah, the sun! She returns! Mr. Orange from the village will then approach and talk to you for a bit before some imps appear to battle you. Attack them with Square and use Power Slash to defeat them all. Collect all items dropped by them. Afterwards, explore around the pond to discover a chest and some fruit in the pond. Head down the hill and return to the village. On your way back you may notice that the guy with the helmet is now awake. Talk to him to initiate a timed battle with some imps. At the end of the battle Komuso will tell you how long it took you to defeat the imps. Once you enter the village you'll notice that the villagers and surroundings have returned to their normal state. Run around and get a feel for the place by breaking objects, using Power Slash on everything, and talking to the people. Talk to the gentleman at the end of the road who is trying to push the boulders and you'll get a scene introducing a new enemy called a red imp. Defeat the green imps then use Power Slash to break the big guy's lute. Follow that up with a barrage of reflector attacks and he'll quickly fade away. With that and any earlier praise you've accumulated you can now upgrade some Divine Attributes. Do what Issun says and use the points for the attribute of your choice (I would suggest upgrading your solar energy). Afterwards the Merchant will ask you to go get Susano so he can move the boulders. Head back to the village and hang a sharp right to find Susano's place. Just follow the snoring. When inside, tackle the jug to open a secret stairwell. Head down to find Susano asleep, er, "meditating". One tackle should snap him out of his trance. Take him with you back to the Merchant, only to hear some gibberish about more training. If you follow Susano back to his training area he'll tell you he needs sake to do any training. I'm not sure what a drunk warrior can do, but let's help him out. Go to Kushi the sake brewer who can be found in a rice pond on the other side of the path. Talk to her a few times to hear her talk about her busted watermill and her inability to make good sake without it. Let's help the young maiden, shall we? Head over to the mill and use Rejuvenation by filling in the broken area with your brush. This will restore the mill so Kushi can keep brewing her sweet, sweet sake. Head inside the mill and collect the jug of sake from her, then take the sake over to Susano so he can begin his training. Susano may be tough, but he's not tough enough to slice through some dummies and a boulder on his own. Each time Susano slashes an object, use Power Slash to slice through it. With his slash and yours combined you can cut through the two dummies and the large boulder without a problem. Next up are the large boulders blocking the village entrance. Use the same Power Slash when Susano attacks the boulder to open the path and be rid of Susano (for now). Explore the village thoroughly and buy or sell items from the Merchant if you need to, then leave Kamiki Village. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.3 Guardian Sapling at Hana Valley ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shinshu Field =============== Your first taste of the world outside Kamiki. For the moment this field is mostly cursed, however if you hang a left (north-west on the map) you'll meet a Nameless Man. Along the way I suggest you stop at the green flags to battle some imps for items and the oh-so-precious Yen. Talk to the Nameless Man and he'll describe what happened to him. Talk to him again to get the whereabouts of Susano. All signs point to the Hana Valley to the north-east of the house, so run up and enter the cave. Hana Valley ============= Run up the path and save, then proceed towards the next cave. Make sure and grab the chest on the left side before the log bridge. As you reach the cave you'll come across a dance troupe of imps. Use Power Slash and your trusty reflector to defeat them. As you continue up the road you'll meet some old trees who like to toss fruit at you. Use Power Slash to deflect the fruit back at them and stun them. Run past them and over the rickety rope bridge to reach the next ledge. Take a right and enter the large area with markings on the ground to engage in battle with some green imps and a new yellow imp! Start by defeating the green imps, then switch your focus to the yellow imp. It attacks by coming up under you and hitting the drum (while you're on it). Get behind it and use reflector attacks until it vanishes, then avoid it when it comes up and repeat the process. After you defeat it you'll reunite with ol' Susano. Ignore Susano for now and go take a look at the painting on the cliff wall. Issun will point out the missing sun in the corner, so whip out the brush and paint a nice big circle in there to complete the painting. Inner Hana Valley =================== This will move that large boulder out of the way and give you (and Susano) a way further into the valley. Follow the path through the cave and into the altar area ahead. Explore all you like but there isn't much you can do here... yet. Use Power Slash to clear the gate on the left and continue. Follow the path into the next cave to once again meet up with Susano. The sleepy bear seems to have snuck into Susano's training spot and it's left him rather irate. It's time for Susano-Style! Like last time, use Power Slash each time he slashes an object, and so the same for the bear slash. That'll knock the snoring beast off of its perch. With Susano's mission accomplished he'll run off again, leaving you with the sphere and a sleeping bear. Take the sphere and roll it back to the altar room, then roll it up the hill and onto that small puddle. If we follow the painting, the final step is to get the sun to shine down onto the sphere. Stand near the sapling and use Sunrise to bring the sun into the sky above. This will bring the Guardian Sapling from its meager existence as a sprout to... its mediocre existence as a withered tree. However, things are looking up once a new constellation appears. First draw a line between all the dots, then fill in each star to bring out Sakigami the monkey. This god will grant you the power of Greensprout-Bloom, which can be used to bring withered flora back to life. Use the brush technique on the Guardian Sapling to rejuvenate not only the tree, but all of Hana Valley as well. Now it's time to return to Hana valley proper. Hana Valley ============= Head down the path to the entrance of Hana Valley. You'll face some imps along the way that you'll need to defeat to restore all of Hana Valley back to normal. It's all enemies you've faced already, so blow through them to move along. You'll also get lots of opportunities to try out the new Bloom technique. Use it on stunned old trees and cursed patches of grass to restore them and gradually return Hana Valley to normal. By the time you reach the exit you should have enough Praise points to upgrade an attribute. Go to the Fan menu and boost something up before continuing to Shinshu Field. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.4 Kamiki Village Detour: Sexy Babe! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shinshu Field =============== Run out and talk to Nameless Man if you want to hear about the river's miraculous return, then proceed to the Guardian Sapling in the middle of the field. This will bring the sapling back to full bloom and eliminate the cursed zone all across Shinshu Field. At this point Shinshu Field is totally free for you to explore... but let's take a slight detour. Collect anything you can near the tree then head back to Kamiki Village. Ignore Issun's pleading to remain in Shinshu Field... trust me. Kamiki Village ================ After gaining the Bloom brush power in Hana Valley, use Bloom on all the cursed trees in the village, along the path up the hill, and up near the sacred deck. Once they are all restored go talk to Mr. Orange at the sacred deck and he will initiate the Konohana Shuffle. Each time he poses and the view switches to a flower bulb, use Bloom on the bulb to release the full flower bloom. Continue until Sakuya appears to thank you. Immediately after Sakuya leaves, you'll get the constellation for Hasugami the monkey. Fill in the stars to restore him and get the Water Lily brush power. This grants you the power to create lily pads that you can use to cross large bodies of water. Use that to get the chest from that island. That's about it for any main stuff at Kamiki Village. Check the side quests for other things you can get at the village, then when you're ready return to Shinshu Field. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.5 Adventures in Shinshu Field ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shinshu Field =============== So, there are quite a few places you can go to from here. There's the Pyrotechnist's house on the south-east side, Lake Harami and Agata Forest to the south, and the Dojo to the west. If you went through Kamiki Village, you know that Issun marked three places in yellow on your map. Let's go ahead and explore those locations. Start by running up the western ridge to the Dojo. Dojo ====== Inside the Dojo you'll meet Oginiri Sensei, who will teach you new battle techniques for the right price. Take a look at what he offers and buy a technique if you have some spare Yen (4 Winds can be useful for battle, but Fleetfoot is handy for strategists who like to dodge attacks). Return to Shinshu when you're good to go. Shinshu Field =============== The next yellow mark is down at Lake Harami. Head south and look for the large gate by the shore. Run down and enter the Moon Shrine. Moon Shrine ============= Here, Mika the priest will ask you to help with defeat the wanted monsters on his list. These monsters only appear at night and are random encounters, however if you exit the shrine after speaking to Mika you'll get your first one. Biwamaru the Vandal will appear just outside the shrine. He's slightly tougher than an average red imp and packs more health as well, but as long as you stick to Power Slash followed up by reflector attacks you'll be fine. Once you defeat him you can return up to the field. Shinshu Field =============== Run to the south-east part of the map to approach Tama the Pyrotechnist's house. Along the way you'll meet a new enemy called a Dead Fish. These guys can fly pretty high, so I recommend you jump and use Power Slash to take some damage and bring it down. While on the ground the Dead Fish may grab onto you and attack, so quickly user Power Slash to shake it loose. After the battle is won proceed to the rickety house at the end of the path. Pyrotechnist's House ====================== Inside you'll meet Tama, a wound-up pyrotechnist hopped up on caffeine (or it seems like it). Listen to his rant and pay special attention to the design on the wall, the one of a circle with a vertical slash across the top. After he sets the powder in that bowl, use your brush to draw that design around the powder and set off the fireworks. The fireworks will then call upon a new constellation: Bakugami the boar! He'll appear alongside his piglets to teach you Cherry Bomb, a brush power used to create bombs. Shinshu Field =============== Use your new power to blow up that crack in the wall and get a chest. With that cleared all of the side stuff in Shinshu Field is done (for now). Head over to the entrance to Agata Forest. Use Water Lily to cross the river and reach the other side. Use Cherry Bomb to blow open the crack and enter Agata Forest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.6 Exploring Agata Forest ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Agata Forest ============== Run west along the path and follow it to the end to reach a safe part of the shore. Enter inside the cave to discover a hidden (and rather dark) house. Go inside that house to meet the next character in the strange world of Nippon. Approach the woman the end of the room to meet Madame Fawn, who can tell the future by reading bones. After some chit chat, she gets down to business. Pay her 500 Yen to get a fortune reading. So, you'll be looking for a crack somewhere that has to be blown up... you should know what that means. Exit Fawn's place and hang a left past the stairs that lead up to the path. You should find a narrow ledge lit by torches that leads around the shore and to a cave behind a waterfall. Enter this cave and use Cherry Bomb to blow the crack in the wall. Inside you'll find the Guardian Sapling of Agata Forest. Use that brush of yours to Bloom that sapling and restore Agata Forest to what it once was. Collect the Devout Beads from the chest and equip them as your main weapon, then equip the reflector as your sub-weapon. Return to the forest to continue. As soon as you step out you'll meet Tao Master Waka, a philosophical french warrior. He'll go on for a while, but by the end of it he's ready to knock your fangs out! Prepare for battle! Tao Master Waka ================= Waka's a fast guy, and if you let him get close he'll really hurt you. Pay attention to his movements, and if you see him getting ready to charge you keep your finger on Triangle to block his attack with the reflector. Otherwise, use the beads to whittle away his health and if he stops use a Cherry Bomb on him for massive damage. Continue the relentless beads/Cherry Bomb assault until Waka gives in and ends the battle. He'll talk some more before waving au' revoire and flying off to who knows where. Agata Forest ============== The forest is now free and open for exploration. You have Tsuta Ruins to the south, Taka Pass to the south-west, and Hitoshio Spring to the north. The spring is optional, and Taka Pass is out of reach due to a washed out bridge, so the next stop is Tsuta Ruins. Start by swimming to the southern-most island and talking to the kid. Listen to his take about his ill-fated adventure in the Tsuta Ruins. After talking to him a few times, headbutt him to snap him out of his sappy mood. After some more conversation, you'll now have to help him fish by drawing a line from his pole to a fish in the water. After you nab one, you'll control Kokari as you pull left, right, and back on the fishing pole. Press the button that appears on-screen to bring the fish out, then use Power Slash to finish it off. Keep fishing until you catch a Giant Salmon. The salmon will spit out the key needed to enter the Tsuta Ruins. Take it and quickly head south to the Tsuta Ruins entrance, before Kokari gets a chance to take it back. Now, before we proceed, I suggest you visit the merchant and stock up on some Holy Bones and other items you may need on long trips. Once you're ready, put the key in to open the gate and enter the ruins. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.7 The Depths of Tsuta Ruins ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tsuta Ruins 1F ================ Look around to get a feel for the place, then head east to the first room on the right. Look out for the cursed trees and keep following the path to the second eastern room in 1F. In the second eastern room, run to the end and wall jump to get up to the top, then use a well-placed Water Lily to reach the next ledge. Follow the ledge up to the top and enter the next room. Run up the small incline to meet a new enemy called a Bud Ogre. Bud ogres are protected by their bud, so first you'll have to weaken it. Use Cherry Bombs or deflect the fruits to stun it, then use Bloom to open the bud. Attack the fruit with your beads to hurt it. Repeat that process until it is defeated. Roll the newly revealed sphere onto the button at the end of the room to open the door. Enter the next area to the east to find another battle with two bud ogres. Try and group them together, then use Cherry Bombs to blast them and stun them quickly. Never stay in one spot or you WILL be injured. Once they open up use some bead whippin' to sap the life away. It will take two or three bouts of bead whipping to destroy them both, but should you get stuck remember you have plenty of items in your Tools. After they are defeated, use Sunrise in the open ceiling above to bring out the sun and grow the mushrooms on that log. This will open the path that leads to floor 2F. Tsuta Ruins 2F ================ Run into the cave and use a Cherry Bomb on the crack in the wall to blow it open. Follow the path to return to the statue chamber, then walk forward a bit. Issun will suddenly get the urge to let out a honkin' sneeze, which of course triggers the collapse of the bridge you're on! Take off running and jump each time you hit a break in the road. If you keep jumping you'll barely make it to the door on the other side. Continue along until you hit a locked door with a weird looking lock on it. Ignore it for now and jump along the platforms to the right to get back down to 1F. Tsuta Ruins 1F ================ Talk to Blockhead in the doorway to learn about his weakness. Tackle him, then watch closely for the two weak points and the order in which they appear. Use your brush to put a dot on each weak point and blow him up, revealing the Exorcising Arrow Key. Pick up the key and return to the locked door on floor 2F. Tsuta Ruins 2F ================ Open the door and proceed into the next room. Run through and fight the imps in the blue scroll if you wish, then continue into the mirror room ahead. Save your game and continue ahead to the next room containing three Devil Gates. Close the three gates to reveal a log and some mushrooms, and just like before a little Sunrise will turn those mushrooms into handy dandy platforms. Hop on them to get up to the ledge above. Run around to the statues puking purple stuff into the water and tackle them all to stop the pollution from entering the water. It is now safe to swim in the water here, but first open up the chest to the left to get the Tsuta Ruins map. Jump into the waterfall and follow the river to get back to 1F in the statue chamber. Tsuta Ruins 1F ================ Use the platforms to enter the, um... crotch of the statue. Inside the Statue =================== Clear the three cursed patches of grass to reveal the constellation for Tsutagami the monkey. Fill in the stars to meet the third and final flora god and get his power: Greensprout-Vine! Use the Vine brush power by drawing a line from the open flower bud to Ammy, which will pull Ammy onto the flower. Continue pulling yourself up from flower to flower until you reach the door at the top. Outside the Statue ==================== Once outside, run up the spiral ramp and use the next set of flowers to pull yourself all the way to the top. Tsuta Ruins 4F ================ Jump onto the head and use Vine to tie one flower bud to each of the four hooks. Jump inside the statue's head to get to floor 3F. Tsuta Ruins 3F ================ Collect to your heart's content by breaking all the statues in the room, then save your game. Proceed through the door to the room with the stairs and collect more stuff if you need it, then continue north through the gate. Once you pass that Golden Gate you'll reach the ultimate battle in Tsuta Ruins. Spider Queen ============== She's one charming lady, and just as pretty! Spider Queen's size may make her seem like a formidable foe, but she's quite slow and her attacks are just as lazy. She will attack by charging at you, summoning red orbs to throw at you, or using her tendrils to attack. All of these are simple to dodge, especially for speedy little Ammy. Now then, Spider Queen's weakness are the hooks sticking out of her rear end. Use the brush and move the camera around to get a good angle between her rear and one of the flowers floating around the room. Draw a line from one of the flowers to one of the hooks and she'll get caught. Do the same from one more flower to one more hook and this will force her to open up and reveal all those eyeballs inside her. Rush in and use Cherry Bombs and relentless bead attacks to cause major damage. Continue that pattern until all of the eyeballs are destroyed and Spider Queen is no more. After her defeat, you'll get The Snarling Beast reflector and find Ume, Kokari's lost dog. That will wrap up your business at Tsuta Ruins. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.8 Trouble at Taka Pass ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Agata Forest ============== Head over towards Taka Pass and Narai River where you'll find Kokari and his dog trying to fix the bridge. After Kokari gets the rope across, Susano will fly through on a log which will pull you and the group onto it. Narai River ============= Your mission here is to hook six Vines from the hooks on the log to the flower buds along the river bank. Pay attention to the sides and the second you see a flower bud pass use Vine to hook a vine to a flower bud. Do this six times (once for each hook) and you'll save the day. Hooray! Agata Forest ============== Take some time to stock up on items and other stuff you want to do in Agata Forest, Shinshu Field, or Kamiki Village. Once you wrap up your business go back to Agata and cross the new bridge into Taka Pass. Taka Pass =========== Talk to the Tea Master and her customer, then the merchant if you want to take a look at his wares. Note his comment about fresh fish being worth a lot of money to him. If you catch some fish with Kokari over at Agata Forest, bring them here to sell them for quick cash. Head south to the large cave blocked by a boulder. Use a Cherry Bomb to blow the boulder and get inside. At the end of the path you'll meet you old pal, Waka. Tao Master Waka (Part 2) ========================== Waka's attack will be slightly tougher, but then again you've improved quite a bit since the last encounter as well. His attacks will consist of standing sword slashes, running sword slashes, and dashing sword slashes. With your main weapon (hopefully Snarling Beast or the beads) start attacking immediately and do not let up. At the same time, use Cherry Bombs to knock off good portions of his health while you attack. Keep up the assault and use your secondary weapon to really stick it to him. You may need to use a Holy Bone once or twice, but overall it's not too bad. Taka Pass =========== After the battle, follow the wooden ramp up to the next cave and run all the way to the end to return to Taka Pass. Run north towards a rope bridge hanging over the merchant and tea folks below. It's missing a few boards it seems, so use Rejuvenation to restore the bridge and approach the Guardian Sapling. Use Bloom to restore it and all of Taka Pass back to normal. You're now free to explore the various areas in Taka Pass. Once you're ready to continue the quest take the south-west path to Kusa Village. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.9 The Great Canine Hunt! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kusa Village ============== Head into the village as your ink is depleted. It's OK if it runs out for the time being. Feel free to also talk to the villagers to hear their rather depressing stories. When you reach a large building (Mrs. Plum's Inn) take a right and follow the path up the mountain until you come across another large building. Approach this building to discover Princess Fuse, a priestess of Kusa Village, possessed by a black imp. The black imp is really no different than Dead Fish in movement, but watch out for that blue bomb he drops. Once you defeat all of the imps the princess will be free. Keep talking to her to hear the full story about the Divine Wind and Crimson Helm. She will then request that you locate the Canine Warriors that can help stop Crimson Helm's reign of terror. Using the sweet new Canine Tracker, head back towards the main part of the village. As you return the signal will increase until it peaks at the curve in the path behind Mrs. Plum's Inn. Use Vine to pull yourself up to a wooden ledge above the village and continue following the signal. Jump into the cave and run to the end to find Ko the Canine Warrior. Talk to him and then feed him some Meat to get on his good side and back to Princess Fuse. Leave the cave and jump down into the main part of the village. Talk to Flower Girl on a lower ledge near a spring to find some dead grass, and note that the Canine Tracker is going nuts. Use Bloom on the dead grass to reveal Shin the Canine Warrior. Feed him some Meat to get him to return to Princess Fuse. Only three more to go! Head towards Susano's sleeping spot outside and follow the path down the hill. Stop when you see a ladder on the left and jump up to the grass patch surrounded by bamboo. Blow the crack in the wall with Cherry Bomb and enter the cave to find Rei, the third Satomi Canine Warrior. Feed him some meat to get him back to the Princess. Continue down the hill until you reach Mr. Bamboo's house. To the left of the house you'll see a glowing bamboo shoot. Use Power Slash to cut it open and reveal a dog. Tackle the bamboo stalk to wake up Chi, the Canine Warrior. Feed him some prime beef to get him back to the Princess and bring the total number of mutts, er... Canine Warriors, up to 4. Return to Princess Fuse's place to find the fifth and final Canine Warrior. Canine Warrior Tei ==================== This guy's tough, and he won't scamper away as easily as the rest. When he howls and starts to glow stay away and jump around as much as you can to avoid his dashing attacks. Use Cherry Bombs when you get him cornered against the barrier or a tree, and attack as much as possible with Snarling Beast before he charges his attack. If you daze him (turns gray) use Power Slash to cause major damage. Kusa Village ============== After the battle Tei will be ready for another round, but Princess Fuse won't have it. Although 5 Canine Warriors have been found, 3 still remain outside of Kusa Village. With the spots marked on your map it's time to return to familiar territory and explore new and dangerous grounds. Head back to the Kusa Village gate and return to Taka Pass. Taka Pass =========== Head all the way back to Agata Forest. Agata Forest ============== Talk to Kokari near the Abyss and he'll mention his lost dog. Hmmm... and you happen to be looking for dogs. Talk to him again and follow his subtle clue about the woman at Hitoshio Spring. At the spring you'll find Kushi from Kamiki Village. She's trying to get a giant barrel full of water back to the village, but of course a woman as tiny as here can't possibly carry it back. Hmmm... what to do. Well, for the time being let's head for the red mark that appears to be at Kamiki Village. Head out of here to Shinshu Field. Shinshu Field =============== Head straight to Kamiki Village. Kamiki Village ================ As soon as you enter the village you'll get the familiar ping from the Canine Tracker. Follow it into the village and to a certain familiar kid and his dog. It turns out Hayabusa, Mushi's dog, is Chu the Canine Warrior! You'll need to talk to him at night to try and convince him to leave the village. It's time for a rumble! Canine Warrior Chu ==================== Chu's a dirty fighter, man! Aside from the usual rapid dash attacks he has a tricky move where he digs holes in the grass to trap you, then he takes a whiz all over Ammy's fur! Avoid those holes and the rocks he tosses out when he digs then, and use a strong weapon such as Infinity Judge or Snarling Beast to damage him. You might also want to use some Cherry Bombs while he's digging those holes. Use a Holy Bone if you need to and continue attacking the old fashioned way to end the battle. Kamiki Village ================ After the battle you'll find out Chu's rather upsetting story about his reason for staying and pretending to be Hayabusa. He'll grant the Satomi Orb you need for Princess Fuse. Return to Shinshu Field when you're ready. Shinshu Field =============== Head straight back to Agata Forest. Agata Forest ============== Yea, Ume's still lost and Kushi needs help, but for the time being just go on back to Taka Pass. Taka Pass =========== Now then, it's time to go and visit Sasa Sanctuary. Head to the big blue gate (near the spot where the guy is pushing against a wall) and go through it to enter the sanctuary. Sasa Sanctuary ================ The Sparrow Clan has a beef with Ammy from the get go, and they will not allow you to pass... yet. It seems Jamba's daughter has disappeared (what's with all the missing animals!?) and until she returns you won't be getting anywhere here. Leave the sanctuary and wait until night... then head over to the horrible Cutter's place at Taka Pass. Taka Pass =========== If you haven't already, use a Cherry Bomb to blow open the hole in the roof of the Cutter's house. This will bathe the inside of the house in moonlight. Enter the house and drag Mrs. Cutter into the light to reveal her true form... that of an evil shadow! These guys have a hard armor that is difficult to pierce, so it takes some work on your part. Start by slicing off their wings with Power Slash, then when they're on the ground attack with your main weapon. They will block the first few hits then turn gray. Use Power Slash when they're gray and follow up with a barrage of main weapon attacks to easily beat down their health. Avoid the sword slashes and continue attacking until they're both dead. After the battle you'll recover Chun from her bamboo prison. Take her back to Sasa Sanctuary. Sasa Sanctuary ================ Now that she's back you will be given access to Sasa Sanctuary and its famous Sparrow Inn. After Jamba and the gate guards leave, go ahead and enter the Inn. Sparrow Inn ============= Explore the first and second floors of the Inn and meet the guests (or take some food when they're not looking). You'll also want to ride the elevator up to the third floor to receive gift baskets from Jamba. Return to the first floor and exit via the east door when you're ready. Sasa Sanctuary ================ Talk to the little guy waving flaming sticks around and hear his woes about the spring. After a few chats with him you'll reunite with Mr. Bamboo from Kusa Village. Agree to play the hole digging game and get your Triangle button ready! There will be several types of blocks that will either block your way, take away precious seconds from the clock, or yield bonuses. - Black = Cannot be destroyed. - Light brown/serrated edges = Destroy with Cherry Bomb. - Dark brown = Dig through or use Cherry Bomb. - Purple/sharp edges = Cannot be destroyed, takes away 5 seconds if it hits Ammy or the old man. - Treasure = Blocks with treasure can be destroyed to get the cash. - Water = Blocks filled with water. Cannot be destroyed. - Big buds = Use Bloom on the big buds to get 20 seconds. Make your way straight down and keep your R1 button ready to plant Cherry Bombs quickly. You don't want to let Mr. Bamboo walk around when there's a purple block nearby. Make your way straight to the bottom row of black blocks to discover the spring. Get your dig on and quickly dig a hole on the spot to get the water flowing again. After some spring hopping, you'll discover a new constellation (and it's been a while, hasn't it?): Nuregami the sea serpent! He'll teach you the Waterspout brush power. Draw a line from the water to the bath attendant to put out his fire, then draw a line up from the power spring to reach the ledge above. From there, use Waterspout again to draw a waterspout from the water to the huge bamboo shoot below. That will open the gate to the bamboo thicket north of the bathhouse. Run through the cave and follow the path until you reach a large crying sparrow. Talk to him about his lost pooch then continue following the path until you reach the end. Watch the glowing bamboo trees closely and use Power Slash on a tree when it has the glow. This will reveal Canine Warrior Gi! Canine Warrior Gi =================== When he howls and starts to glow stay away and jump around as much as you can to avoid his dashing attacks. Use Cherry Bombs when he stands still, and attack as much as possible with Infinity Judge (or another strong weapon) before he charges his attack. If you daze him (turns gray) use Power Slash to cause major damage. Sasa Sanctuary ================ Head back to the spring to talk to Mr. Bamboo and get his Mermaid Coin as a gift. Use the coin on the spring and choose Agata Forest as your destination. Agata Forest ============== Now that you have Waterspout, you can give Kushi a hand with her dilemma. Use Waterspout several times to fill the bucket and complete half of her task. Now about carrying the water all the way back to Kamiki... An imp will suddenly appear out of nowhere to attack Kushi, but luckily Susano and his Sword of Passion show up in the nick of time. Like many times before, Susano will attempt to attack foes on his own but will require your help. Each time Susano pauses in mid-air next to an enemy, quickly hold R1 and use Power Slash on the enemy. Repeat this until they are all defeated. Susano's "victory" will raise his paranoia meter up a few notches before he takes off, leaving the girl and her barrel to their own devices. Another familiar voice will suddenly ring out in the distance, calling Ammy's attention elsewhere. Run to the small island where you first found Kokari to meet him again. After some more chatting you'll jump back into the good ol' fishing game. Like before, draw a line to a fish in the water to hook it, then hold Left or Right to reel it in. After you catch two small fish you'll get a chance to nab the Whopper. Bring it up and Power Slash it twice to get the biggest catch in all of Nippon! Well, it seems Ume might be gone, but not all is lost. A constellation will appear in the night sky... Yumigami, god of moon power! Fill in the constellation to learn Crescent, a power that gives you the ability to turn day into night. Try it out by drawing half a circle in the sky. Just then, a certain red-scarfed dog will appear. You knew him as Ume, but his real name is... Canine Warrior Jin ==================== Well, uh... Jin is interesting. He has the same dash and jump attacks as the other Canine Warriors, however he'll also drop green... we'll call them bombs. Avoid the dashes as usual, definitely stay away from a green Un! Jin will also use Chu's hole-digging technique. Use your strongest weapon combined with Cherry Bomb to take him out. Agata Forest ============== Jin won't want to leave either, but you'll get his orb in his stead. Now that you've found all 8 of the Canine Warriors you can return to Princess Fuse at Kusa Village. Kusa Village ============== Talk to Princess Fuse to tell her about the remaining Canine Warriors. While they may not be here, all of the Satomi Orbs are. They will choose you as the new master, which means you're the one who gets to beat down Crimson Helm at the Gale Shrine. Lucky you... Head over to the Gale Shrine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.10 Gale Shrine ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gale Shrine 1F ================ Approach Yatsu at the door to the shrine and he'll let you enter once he sees the orbs. Run in and get to the large room with the pool of water. You can use Power Slash to open up the chests at the bottom for some goodies. From the pool room, head north through the snaking tunnel to find a Devil Gate. Go on in to fight a new enemy called a chimera. Weaken it with a Cherry Bomb, then cause major damage with a Power Slash. Repeat that pattern and avoid his slow-moving attacks to win the battle. Grab the key and return to the pool room, then head west. You'll be in a large room with some windmills. Enter the southern room and use the key on the evil red lock. This will take you into the elevator. Start by planting a Cherry Bomb right in the middle to move up to floor 2F. Gale Shrine 2F ================ Run forward and fight the Chimera, then take the key and return to the elevator shaft. Gale Shrine 1F ================ Place a Cherry Bomb in the center to move up to 1F, then place another one to move up to 3F. Gale Shrine 3F ================ Run into the doorway to place the key and exit out to the balcony. Turn right and follow the stairs (don't look down!) until you get to the balcony at the very top of the shrine. Now you're at the source of the evil air, the force stopping the Divine Wind from blowing. Use the brush and draw a line in the opposite direction of the evil wind. You'll have to do that three times to clear out all of the bad mojo and restore the Divine Wind. As the wind returns you will get a chance to meet a new deity: Kazegami, the god of wind! Restore his constellation to get the Galestorm brush power. Use that power to turn the small windmill above the gate and open the exit. Return to the main balcony and use Galestorm to blow the fire off that chest and get the Gale Shrine Map. Return to the elevator to get back down to 1F. Gale Shrine 1F ================ Run back to that wooden platform with the windmills on it. Use Galestorm to the left on that first windmill to turn the walkway and access a new chamber on the west side of the room. Run in and run up the fallen beam to get up to the rafters. You'll have to use Vine to reach the first flower bud to the west, then use a large Galestorm to raise the wall scrolls and create platforms you can jump on. Cross over the beams and head west to continue. Save at the mirror then enter the large door. Here you'll face three sets of pots blowing flames up to the ceiling. Use large Galestorms to blow out the fire and quickly jump over until you reach the end. In the next room, make sure to run through the gate along the path to save your progress before fighting... Crimson Helm ============== Ol' Helmy has a few attacks, but none that are particularly bad. He will have the typical dash and jump attacks where he'll try to flatten you, but he will also use a circle of flame and a direct shot of fire. If you see him jump or rear his head run away to avoid those flames. One minor attack is a swipe with that flaming sword of his, but that's only a threat at close distances. During the battle you'll also be protected by the Satomi Power Orbs, so that's eight hits you can take without losing health. To attack Crimson Helm you need to approach from behind (to avoid those swords and flames) and jump on his back, then hit his helmet. Keep hitting the helmet until the armor falls off and exposes the flaming skeleton. Use Galestorm to blow away the flames and then attack the skeleton directly with your main weapon and Cherry Bombs. Repeat that process until he gets to about 1/4 of his health remaining. Crimson Helm will then back up as flaming dragon heads emerge from the ground. To make matters worse, Susano will appear and try to take on the demons himself! Like always, use Power Slash each time he slashes a dragon head. When he gets to Crimson Helm you'll need to use Galestorm three times to help him defeat the demon once and for all. Gale Shrine ============= Leave the shrine and head back to Kamiki Village (either by running or by Mermaid Coin). You should also take this time to use newly obtained brush powers such as Crescent and Galestorm to get extra stuff and upgrade your attributes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.11 Night of the Full Moon ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kamiki Village ================ Witness the events as they unfold, then follow Kushi back to Shinshu Field. Shinshu Field =============== After talking to Kushi, take her to the lake and enter the portal at the end of the path to reach the Moon Cave. Moon Cave =========== Waka will be waiting for you at the entrance to the cave. After he goes on for a bit, Kushi will be taken by Orochi! Ammy will run in and Waka will run off (as usual). Proceed up the stairs to find a crumbled staircase. Jump right into the hole to find the Calcified Cavern. Calcified Cavern ================== Run in and pick up the jug of Thunder Brew from the ground, then continue running south until you reach the Devil Gate. Enter inside to find a black imp. Avoid the skulls and use Power Slash to get rid of them, then attack with Cherry Bombs and your main weapon. After the fight you'll get a blank imp mask that you can draw anything on. You're free to paint anything on it... but make sure it's something you can live with. :) Return to the two imps guarding the door at the north end. After some back 'n forth they will let you pass into the Moon Cave. Moon Cave 1F ============== Enter the kitchen on the east side of this main chamber and run up the stairs next to that large pot. Save your game (highly recommended) then use Vine to hook the two hooks on the pot lid to the flower buds on the left and right side. That will lift the lid so you can save Ajimi the chef. As you get into the conversation with Ajimi he will list four ingredients you need to help him find: - Ogre Liver - Lips of Ice - Eyeball of Fire - Black Demon Horn Return to the main chamber and enter the western room using Ajimi's key. Inside this cave, use Vine to pull yourself from one flower bud to the next in order to reach the end. If you notice that a flower bud is pointing down (into the purple goop) look around for another flower bud near to that one. Immediately after you use Vine to pull yourself to the one pointing down, use Vine again to get to the next flower bud. At the end of the chamber you'll find a eyeball lantern. Use Power Slash to close the eye and enter the next chamber containing a Devil Gate. Fight off the enemies to reveal a chest containing the Ogre Liver. Return to the entrance when you're ready and use Waterspout on the power spring in the small pool of water to get up to the ledge. Follow this path to get to floor 2F of the main chamber. Moon Cave 2F ============== Use Waterspout on the big bowl of water and get up to floor 3F. Moon Cave 3F ============== Enter the north door on this floor. Inside this chamber, jump down to get to B1F. Moon Cave B1F =============== Enter the Devil Gate to fight some imps. After defeating them use Waterspout to get water from the pool to the bamboo fountain. This will trigger the valve at the south end of the room to open and empty the pool in the main chamber. Head towards the open valve and use Waterspout to get up there. Fight the few imps then use Waterspout to get to floor 1F. Moon Cave 1F ============== Talk to the imp on the elevator to get a little hint about your next step, then use Power Slash continuously to make him release the crank and drop the elevator down to B2F. Moon Cave B2F =============== Jump out of the elevator and enter the next chamber. Position yourself so that you can see all four of the eyeball lamps and move the camera so all four of them line up horizontally. Use a Power Slash to hit all four at once when the eyes are open to open the door. Inside the room, examine the statue then prepare to fight a new monster. Use Cherry Bombs to daze the monster then attack with your main weapon. Repeat that process until it is defeated. After the fight, you'll get a new constellation. Fill in the stars to Moegami, god of flames! He'll teach you the Inferno brush power. Use Inferno to melt the nearby ice and reveal a door. Enter that door to find another elevator. Talk to the imp to ride back up to 1F. Moon Cave 1F ============== Enter the Devil Gate and defeat the two ice mouths to get the Lips of Ice ingredient. That's two down and two to go! Return to the main chamber and enter the flower on the west side to return up to floor 2F, then ride a Waterspout up to 3F. Moon Cave 3F ============== Enter the north door again and cross over the bridge. If the bridge breaks you'll need to return here and use Rejuvenation to fill in the gap. Once you get to the other side use Inferno to melt the ice and enter the door. Enter the Devil Gate inside and defeat the Fire Eye and Ice Mouth to get the Fire Eye ingredient for Ajimi's appetizer. Enter the room north of there and pick up the key, then return to the main chamber on floor 3F. Run to the door on the east side and open it with the key. Proceed through the skull room but avoid the sand holes. Shortly after entering you'll also find a round stone. You'll need to tackle the stone and take it with you as you proceed through the room. If it falls another one will appear. When you reach the gap in the path, use Power Slash on the eyeball lamp to get a glimpse of a path. Use Galestorm to reveal a path and continue until you reach the chest at the end. Open it to get the Moon Cave Map, then roll the stone onto the button to activate the torches throughout Moon Cave. Run left up the stairs (talk to the merchant to scope out his wares) and then use Vine to reach the flower bud over the platform above. That will bring you up to floor 4F. Moon Cave 4F ============== Run along until you see a gap and some wall scrolls. Use Galestorm to blow the scrolls up and across the gap. Continue to the end of the path to find a cannon. Stand behind the cannon and line yourself up with the scroll of Orochi in the distance. You'll now need to light the fuse to blow the cannon, but first you need to know when to light it. Wait until the cannon in facing straight to the right then light the fuse. This will blow a hole in the north- east wall. Enter the north-east chamber and run along the path until you see the flaming orb. Use Galestorm to push the orb through the tunnel to the chamber at the end. Use Inferno to burn the two ice blocks nearby and enter the room with the Devil Gate. Defeat the imps to get the Black Demon Horn. Return to floor 1F. Moon Cave 1F ============== Give the chef the final ingredient so he can complete the appetizer. Now that it's ready you need to go to the epicurean bell and ring it eight times (once for each of Orochi's foul heads). This will send the appetizer up to the chamber above. I'd suggest that you save your game now, as you are about to go to a large battle. Talk to the elevator guy and convince him to take you up to the throne room. Moon Cave 5F ============== Talk to the merchant if you want to buy anything before you proceed, then run through the gate and up the winding path to the top of the structure. Here you'll see Kushi... and someone who Amaterasu knows very well... Orochi! ========= Try a Power Slash to discover Orochi has a barrier around himself. Just as the battle seems hopeless, Susano will appear in full warrior garb! After he and Orochi have their little discussion a miracle will occur: the thunder brew will turn into 8 Purification Sake! Now your mission is to stuff that sake into each one of the eight heads. Stand in front of a head and avoid the attacks, then when the head roars and you see a green light come out use Waterspout to guide the sake from the circle in the ground to the beast's mouth. - For the lightning head you'll need to attack it once to get it to roar since it can't see you. - The water head will require you to jump on the lily pads and hit it before it will roar. - The poison head shoots out two poisoned big buds. Use Bloom on the buds to neutralize them. After getting enough of the heads drunk (some may need to two shots of sake) Orochi will fall and give you access to the bell. Run up along one of the necks and attack the bell with your strongest main weapon to damage Orochi. Jump off when the heads regain consciousness and repeat the whole thing until Orochi falls and a circle of flame surrounds the bell. The next phase of the battle will be against each individual head. Get in front of a head (avoid the neighboring heads) and dodge the attacks. Use Waterspout when it roars to get some more sake in there and get it drunk. Attack the head directly to damage and eventually knock it out. After the eight heads have fallen, you'll need to use Crescent to paint the moon in the sky, just as it was 100 years ago. The final attack will be a Power Slash through each head, much like any other battle with Susano. He'll take out the eighth and final head to end the battle and save the fair maiden Kushi. Watch the victorious scenes before returning to Kamiki Village. Kamiki Village ================ It's festival time, baby! Talk to everyone in the village, on the sacred deck, and up near Sakuya's tree. After you've talked to everyone and had your fill of fireworks it's time to return to Taka Pass. As the narrator said, this is just the beginning! I highly recommend that you take some time to fulfill side quests, gather missing items, and train at the dojo to make sure you're ready for the quest ahead. Once you're ready, head to the west end of Taka Pass. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.12 Bad Times in Western Nippon ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- City Checkpoint ================= Talk to Yoichi and the snoozing guy to get their input about the happenings in Nippon. Now your goal is get to an arrow lit so the guard can signal the other side to lower the bridge. Wait for Yoichi to fire an arrow then immediately use your brush and Inferno to get some fire from one of the statues to the arrow in mid-air. If you lit the arrow... enjoy the fireworks! Run across the bridge and continue west through the canyon ahead. Ryoshima Coast ================ Ol' Orochi's curse is still hanging around some areas, including nearly all of Ryoshima Coast. Follow the path to find a split in the road and two paths: one to Sei-an City and one to Ankoku Temple. Sei-an City is obviously inaccessible at the moment, so head to the right towards the temple. Follow the path around the right side of the temple to meet a new enemy called Headless Guardian. Use Power Brush to break his shield and attack with your main weapon to easily defeat him. Continue up the path until you reach a wall with a crack in it. Cherry Bomb the crack to continue into a cavern with a pool. Jump up onto the next ledge near the empty pool and use Waterspout to transfer water from the lower pool to the higher one. Run up to the next pool and fill it using Waterspout again, then finally get to the top with the Guardian Sapling and use Waterspout to fill the moat and restore the sapling to full size. Use Bloom to completely restore it and rid Ryoshima Coast of Orochi's curse. Return towards the shore, but first make sure to enter a cave east of the temple. This cave leads straight to Madame Fawn's shack over at Agata Forest, in case you ever need to get back quickly. Now head to the west side of Ryoshima and follow the path to meet an Ubume. These creatures can be defeated by using Galestorm to blow away the umbrella before attacking. Continue east from there to Sei-an City. Sei-an City (C. Qtr) ====================== Strange mist... but it's not Orochi's curse. Talk to the people in the city to get a handle on what's happening then head to the north-west corner. There you'll meet Naguri, a carpenter trying to bring the water back into the city canals. Agree to help him dig. Start with a Cherry Bomb to get down to the water cube below, then place a Cherry Bomb in the water to blow the surrounding cubes. Let Naguri fall in and quickly jump up to the big bud above to the right. Blow that cube with a Cherry Bomb and use Galestorm to push Naguri back to the right, and a Waterspout to get him up the cube. Quickly place another Cherry Bomb to fall down along the right side. The next area has a light, a dark, and another light brown cube. Dig down above the dark cube and dig straight down until you reach black cubes. Blow the cubes to the right and use Galestorm to get Naguri over the spike cube, then make your way down the right side again. Head left and blow the next cube with a Cherry Bomb, then Galestorm Naguri over the spikes to the bottom level with all the black cubes. Guide him to the right side to find the water. After restoring the water, talk to the Tool Dealer near the city entrance and buy Blinding Snow from him. Now you're ready to go to the northern gate. Sei-an City (A. Qtr) ====================== Talk to the Benkei the monk on the bridge several times, then offer him the Blinding Snow rod. You'll now have to help him catch the Living Sword. Start with the small fish, then work your way up until you catch Cutlass Fish, the Living Sword. Although this wasn't what the monk expected, he'll keep his word and let you pass. Approach Waka (don't worry, there'll be no fighting this time) and listen to him jabber on. Afterwards continue up the path and into the building. Speak to the, um... priestess... and get her take on what's happening. After talking with Rao for a while you'll get a clue about her Prayer Slips. Proceed north into the Aristocrats' Quarters. Head east towards the large green portal and enter inside. Head to the right side of this area and pick up the seemingly useless slips of paper. Take them back to Rao to discover their real worth. After some more discussion, Issun and Ammy will agree to meet Rao at the ship on the next night with a moon in the sky. Ryoshima Coast ================ Get back to Ryoshima Coast and the jetty that leads to that sunken ship out in the water. Use Crescent while standing on the platform to clear the water from around the ship. Now you're free to approach the ship and enter inside the bright opening on the side. Sunken Ship ============= Although the door is cursed, the busty chi..., er, Rao will show up to help. Guide her Prayer Slip to the door to bust it open, then do the same to destroy the wandering monsters. Proceed into the hull of the ship to find a few doors and chests. Head to the left past the black ghost and spiked hall to find a room with a large pile of bones in the center. Here you'll fight Jiro and Saburo. Both of these enemies have to be weakened by attacking their shells, then attacking their exposed bodies. Use a strong weapon to quickly take out the shells. Proceed into the next room after defeating the crustaceans and use Sunrise in the open sky above. That will cause the water to rise again, giving you access to new areas of the ship. Return to the skeleton pile room to meet a new, yet familiar friend. Attack its armor continually until you see it all fall off, then attack with some floating Cherry Bombs to finish it. Never stay in one place too long or it will easily jump up and come crashing down on top of you. Continue to the main room where you started after defeating the shark. Swim to the east end and use the red barrel to get over the wall. In this section of the ship you have a cannon, some doors, and a locked gate. Stand on the barrel end of the cannon to lower it down to the bottom door, then load it with a Cherry Bomb to blow the door open and reveal the key. For now, continue up into the north room. Here you'll find a sickly green blob that can transform into a giant arm and bash you around the place. Avoid it while you swim and head to the stairs on the left. Quickly get up to the walkway and cut the rope holding up the red barrel. Get on the barrel and roll it into the hooks at the wall to get some weight on the balance. Swim back to the stairs to get up to the walkway, and if they come out from under you remember to keep jumping forward and get out of the way! Follow the walkway to the stairs that come around from the top and lead you back to the room with the open roof. Use Crescent and bring back the moon, along with the lower water level. This will lift that red barrel next to the ladder. Jump and return from whence you came until you get to the cannon area. Grab the now-accessible key and open the locked gate to continue. Inside this room, open everything to find some monster chests, the Lucky Mallet, and other stuff. Exit the room when ready. Ryoshima Coast ================ As Ammy, Issun, and Rao escape from the ship, guess who shows up... the Water Dragon! Once Rao is in the clear you'll be facing the Water Dragon alone, but don't worry. Just hop on a Lily Pad and jump away as it attacks. Next thing you know you'll be back on the shore and Lucky Mallet will guide you all the way back to Sei-an City Aristocrats' Quarters. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.13 Miniature Explorers ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sei-an City (A. Qtr) ====================== Follow the Lucky Mallet all the way to the Emperor's building on the east side. Agree to get Hammered (score!) in order to enter the Emperor's palace. Imperial Palace ================= Run along the path and do as Issun says when he talks to you. When you approach the Blocking Spider, run around for a bit to speed up and quickly run past him. Continue over the rocks of the pond to meet a new enemy called a Thunder Doom Mirror. A Galestorm will blow those clouds away and leave him open for attack. Continue along past the next spider to find a few guards standing around in a cement path. The guard nearest to you will try and squash you, meaning you can't stand still for long. Further down the other guard will be sweeping with a broom and will not let you pass. Make the guy trying to squash you put his foot down and use it to jump up to the hole in the wall on the right. Blow the hole open with a Cherry Bomb, then pick up the key and return to the spot where you found the first spider. Use the key on the locked gate and enter the tunnel to find some ticks... or fleas. Whatever they are, ignore them and get to the cracked mound at the end. Blow it open with a Cherry Bomb and jump into the hole. In this area with the spiders, jump down and use a Cherry Bomb on the next cracked wall to continue. In this storage room you'll find a flask. Cut down the flask and enter inside to discover a white mist, different from the green mist floating around. Use Galestorm to blow the mist out of the flask. Upon exiting you'll see a familiar starlight... you know what to do! Speak to Kasugami to get the Veil of Mist brush power, then use it to slow down the Blocking Spider and return to the surface. Along the way you'll have to fight a Wind Doom Mirror, which can be defeated by using Veil of Mist to slow it down. Make your way back to the cement path with the two guards. Use Veil of Mist to slow down time and get past the two brooms and into the next area with the bamboo. Get across the bamboo by using Waterspout to lower the first one, then balance the others so you can reach the next one in line. Enter the room at the end to find the Emperor at last. Jump up onto the Platform Spiders to get up onto the rafters. Imperial Palace 2F ==================== Make your way to the middle rafter and head north to find a chest with the Imperial Palace Map, then head south along the east side. You'll have to time your jumps onto the green spiders carefully to avoid getting taken for a fast ride. Once at the bottom, turn west and then north to find a row of several quick Blocking Spiders. Get past them using the same method as before until you reach the green mist cloud. Jump right in to enter the Emperor's body. Imperial Palace B1F ===================== Go around the uvula (dangly thing) and follow the tunnel to the save mirror. Save your game and then pass through the opening to enter the bowels of the Emperor's body. Jump onto the platform inside the chamber and prepare to battle... Blight ======== Blight's power includes speedy sword slashes from across the room and a move where his swords encircle him and then shoot out in all directions. To attack Blight, you'll need to wait for those swords to start floating around and then attack his golden sword with a Power Slash. That will knock it loose and send it flying away from Blight. Use Cherry Bombs and your strongest weapon to attack the sword and damage Blight. You can also use Veil of Mist when Blight teleports around the arena and attack while he's floating across. Imperial Palace B1F ===================== Now that Blight is defeated the green mist will be lifted from all of Sei-an City. However, there's still the matter of Kaguya in her cell. Take control of the Emperor and head to the right and then down to find Kaguya's cell. This will free her and end the troubles here at the Palace. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.14 Kaguya's Quest ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Imperial Palace ================= Talk to the Emperor and trade fangs for stuff if you have them, then exit his chamber and explore around outside. Once you've spoken to everyone and are ready to go, head south back to Sei-an City A. Qtr. Sei-an City (A. Qtr) ====================== Talk to Kaguya for a bit before she takes off in the direction of Sasa Sanctuary. She seemed rather upset, so you better chase after her all the way to the Sanctuary. Sasa Sanctuary ================ Run through the Inn and get to the end of that bamboo path outside, where you found the canine before. There you'll find Mr. Bamboo and Kaguya. Although they are happy to see each other, Kaguya seems out of sorts... Follow her into the hole to play another digging mini game. Tunnel your way down the middle, then to the right when to hit black rocks, then all the way to the left, then finally you'll find yourself heading to the right until you dig all the way to the bottom. So it was a strange spaceship buried in the ground... interesting. Kaguya is set to leave despite leaving her grandfather behind, however she will grant you the Fire Tablet as thanks for helping her. Say goodbye (for now) and return to Sei-an City Aristocrats' Quarters. Sei-an City (A. Qtr) ====================== Approach Queen Himiko's palace and get past the guards by using Veil of Mist. Enter the building in the center to find the queen's Handmaiden standing by the door. Talk to her then proceed into the elevator. Equip the Fire Tablet and jump right into the flaming liquid to swim to the other side. Run through the halls to the final hall at the end where Queen Himiko can be found praying. Have a nice, long chat with her to get your next objective here in Sei-an City. It looks like it's finally time to deal with this Water Dragon, so head back to Ryoshima Coast. Ryoshima Coast ================ Head north to North Ryoshima Coast. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.15 The Northern Coast ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- N. Ryoshima Coast =================== There's quite a bit to do here in N. Ryoshima Coast, but for the time being run along and talk to Waka, then battle the Earth Nose. Use Veil of Mist on the Earth Nose to defeat it. Follow the beach on the left until you meet Urashima and some bully kids. Scare off the kids and then talk to Urashima to find out how you can get down to the Dragon Palace. Run down to the pier and use Sunrise to reset the day back to dawn. Orca the whale will then appear to take you to Dragon Palace. Just hop on to go for the ride. You need to find the whirlpool that leads to Dragon Palace, but first let's go to Catcall Tower to the east. Disembark onto the island with the huge tower and enter the small wooded area. Approach the tower and use the Catwalk ability to start jumping up the tower. Keep jumping up until you reach the chamber at the very top. Run up the stairs to find a platform with a lone kitty. Feed the cat to call the constellation of Kabegami the cat! Complete the constellation to get the Catwalk brush power. Test it out on the statue behind you and then return down to sea level. Leave the small island and head over to the Watcher's Cape on the west side of N. Ryoshima Coast. Use Catwalk on the statue on the west side to jump up to the top and find a Watcher looking for stars. Sit next to him and place a dot in the empty sky to create a star so he can get his wish. Now that the Whirlpool Galaxy is back, run to the end of the cape and stand on the pedestal. Use Galestorm to spin the Whirlpool Galaxy counter-clockwise. Repeat it a few more times to really get it spinning and make the whirlpool in the water appear. Go find Orca at the pier and ride him into the whirlpool to enter Dragon Palace. Dragon Palace =============== Proceed forward and talk to the Security Guards, then enter the palace. Run straight up the stairs to the elevator that leads to the throne room. In there you'll meet Queen Otohime. Talk to her several times and get your next mission: enter the Water Dragon's body and retrieve the Dragon orb. Return to the main hall and head to the entrance on the left to enter the dragon's garden. If you're prepared to deal with a dungeon, enter the dragon's mouth. Inside the Dragon =================== Proceed through the dragon into the large cavern ahead. Jump into the water and swim north to find a key resting on a large platform. Now turn south and look for a place to use Waterspout next to the east wall. Ride the Waterspout and then jump from one path to the other to continue north. Get to the locked gate at the end to proceed. You'll now notice a large glass orb stuck in a mass of purple goo, but there's nothing that can be done about that yet. Continue north into the large room at the end. In here you'll need to use Waterspout to hit that fleshy bulb at the top with the red liquid dripping from it. Use Waterspout three times to pop the plug and fill the place with red goo. Use Water Lily to get back to the room with the orb. Use Waterspout again, but this time to dissolve the purple tendons holding the orb in place. You will then obtain the Dragon Orb and fight a new enemy... Tube Fox ========== Tube Fox is actually a set of 9 foxes that attack quickly but cause little damage. Use Cherry Bombs and your strongest weapon to defeat them. Inside the Dragon =================== Now it's time for a good ol' race back to the entrance! Run back and avoid the dropping blood as best as you can. You may get hit a few times, but it won't be a difficult run. Dragon Palace =============== After the scenes with King Wada and Rao, head back to Queen Otohime's chamber. Watch the scene unfold and then quickly return to Ryoshima Coast on foot. Ryoshima Coast ================ Make your way up to Ankoku Temple and follow the visions of Rao up to the temple and into the hidden cave behind it. Enter inside and jump in the well to find a secret passage... and a dead body! Run to the end of the path to find yourself at Sei-an City A. Qtr. Sei-an City A. Qtr ==================== Exit this room and head up to Queen Himiko's chambers. You'll find Himiko on the floor... and Rao as well. Talk to Rao to learn the truth. Evil Rao ========== This fight isn't a tough one provided you use the right moves. Start by avoiding all fire dagger attacks and keep moving to dodge the overhead strikes. To attack, use plenty of Cherry Bombs and your strongest weapon, as well as an Exorcism Slip or two for good measure. Keep moving and attacking to defeat her and reveal the Dark Lord's true form. Sei-an City A. Qtr ==================== After the battle and a few scenes, exit the palace and head back to N. Ryoshima Coast. N. Ryoshima Coast =================== Quickly get onto Watcher's Cape and run to the end to find Otohime. She'll use the Dragon Orb and a prayer to transform into the Water Dragon and build a bridge across the water to Oni Island. If you're ready, run across and enter depths of doom... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.16 Oni Island ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oni Island ============ Equip the Fire Tablet to protect yourself from lava, then use Waterspout on the small pool to get inside the mouth of the island. Here you'll have to jump into the lava pool and choose east or west. On either side you'll find another lava spout where you can use Waterspout to get up the wall and to the gate of the main structure. Here you'll fight Red Ogre and Blue ogre. Use Cherry Bombs and attack from the sides to defeat them both easily. Enter the main gate. Oni Island 1F =============== Look around the main chamber and approach the mirror on the right to save. There is also a Merchant if you ever need to buy something. Now head west and the room that's on the right to find a key, but first you have to fight a Poltergeist. Like before, some Cherry Bombs and your main weapon can take care of it. Collect the key and return to the main chamber, then head east to find the lock for that key. Run down all the way to B2F. Oni Island B2F ================ Read the sign to get the rules about the Labrynth of Torment, then talk to Tobi to initiate the race. The goal is to hit the switch under the sheet of paper and quickly head for the exit before it does. If you make it through the gate first then you win. Press Square to tackle and begin a dash, and hold Up to maintain it. Use that to hit the switch and Tobi through the first gate. The next gate will require you to jump from platform to platform to the gate in the opposite corner of the room. Use a dash to perform some quick jumps and get across the platforms before Tobi does. Run all the way up the stairs. Oni Island 1F =============== Use Catwalk and get to the platforms above, then jump across the spiked platforms. On the other side of this hallway you'll once again meet Tobi. Race him from one platform to the next. If you happen to fall you'll need to use Catwalk on the wall to reach the gate. The next race is through a hall blocked by spiked walls. Simply use the double jump to get over the longer walls or double walls, and use single jumps to get over small walls. The next hall contains demonic spiked wheels. Speed up and get ready to shift left or right depending on the position of the wheels. At the end of the wheels you'll need to jump as far as you can twice to get up the stairs and through the gate. Oni Island 2F =============== The next part of the race is a simple battle, but you have to defeat the enemies under a time limit to get past the chamber of delay. Start by dashing in and quickly using Veil of Mist, then when the battle starts use Veil of Mist and some Exorcism Scrolls to defeat the monsters as quickly as possible. You'll have to wait for the battle end screen to vanish before you can proceed through the gate. Run through and up the stairs to continue. Oni Island 3F =============== Head to the right side and jump over the spikes when they appear. Get onto that first ledge on the right next to the statue, then tackle it and jump around to the other side of the statue. Continue jumping along platforms on the right side until you reach a platform with a green switch. Hit the switch to get rid of the walls on the first half of the room. Keep jumping along the right side until you see the path leading to the end. Follow that path and continue through the next gate. In the chamber with the pool you'll battle a Blue Cyclops, which is no different than before. Proceed through the next few doors to find a mirror and a glimpse of what's to come. Save your game and continue down the hall to find Tobi. Dash over the button and stay in the middle to avoid the needles from the sides of the room. Use a Cherry Bomb to blow open the wall and exit to the roof of the castle. Run around to the right and use Catwalk to reach the next roof and grab the key. Take that key back to the locked gate you passed earlier and proceed up that hallway. Make sure to run around the outside of that room with the chest or the spiked bamboo will surely hit you. Exit through the door at the end to find a statue of a tiger. Use Rejuvenation to paint a bolt-shaped arrow across the top of the statue and complete the masterpiece. This will reveal the constellation for Gekigami, the tiger! He'll teach you the Thunderstorm brush power. Use that power to open the door on the left, then use it again on the next electric rod to activate the bridge. Cross the bridge and go through the door at the end to continue. Use a Cherry Bomb to blow up the floor in this room and return to 1F. Oni Island 1F =============== Enter the tunnel blocked by a scroll and pick up the key at the end. While holding the key, turn around and jump onto the platforms that appear on the other side to get to the top and find an electric door. Use the electricity from the key to open it and enter the sliding doors of hell. It'll be confusing, but you'll be fine as long as you make your way towards the south-west corner of the maze. There you'll find a wall with a crack in it, which of course can be Cherry Bombed to reveal the exit. Head down and east to get back to the main chamber. Use the key to open the north gate and proceed up to the center of Oni Island. In this room, use Thunderstorm to light up the large sword and blow up the statue, revealing a staircase. Follow the stairs down to a booby trap. Use Power Slash to hit all five of the eyeballs and shut off the trap, then continue down to B1F. Oni Island B1F ================ Make your way up the rotating ramps until you see the light bulb lock. Head left from there to the cat statue. Here, use Catwalk and get up to the rotating ramps above. You'll eventually reach the room with the electric key. Power Slash the gate to open it and grab the key. Return to the electric lock to continue. Jump up from one platform to the next until you see the spinning platforms, then jump up through the holes from one to the next until you get to the top. Oni Island 4F =============== Run in and mind the beams as you head west. Pick up the electric key and use it to open the chest underneath the stairs to get the Oni Island map. Take the key and run up the stairs. Oni Island 5F =============== Get across the electric platforms and then use Veil of Mist to jump past the spider. Drop the key to fall down into a room with a chest. Oni Island 4F =============== Pick up the gate key and blow open the western wall to reach the gate lock. After opening the gate that leads to the stairs, pick up the electric key again. You may need to pick it up again next to the stairs. Oni Island 5F =============== Why, it's Tobi... again. This race will involve racing across an electric platform, using Veil of Mist to get past the spider, and jumping to avoid the spikes at the foot of each set of stairs. If you win you'll be up on floor 6F. Oni Island 6F =============== Run into the room to fight two ogres again. You can now use Thunderstorm on the blue one and continue to use Cherry Bombs and your weapons to defeat the pair of uggos. Proceed into the next hall to find a wall with spikes that you must climb. Use the statue and Catwalk to create a path that you can use to get around the spikes. Use Veil of Mist to get past the spider blocking the entrance to another room with storm clouds. Defeat the enemies and continue to the terrace outside. Here you'll find some large terraces and a Blockhead. Like before, pay attention and watch the glowing spots, then place a dot on each spot in the correct order. Once you defeat him you'll be on 7F. Oni Island 7F =============== It looks like Tobi wants one more race to end them all, and we can not disappoint. Start by drawing a small Cherry Bomb to blow open the wall at the other end, then begin the race and use Vine to swing across to that flower bud. That will be Tobi's final race... and will lead you straight to the final floor. Oni Island 8F =============== Run around on the path until you get to the roof. Watch the scene then fill in the constellation to reveal... Ninetails =========== This enemy has a multitude of attacks, many of which are very strong. There's the usual charge attack, as well as attacks where she leaps onto you. Keep running around the arena to avoid those. She'll also use her tails to throw some toxic brown liquid out, which will require you to do some careful jumping. As you progress into the battle she will also attack with her tails from underneath. When you see her sword rise up it's time to attack. Use Thunderstorm to hit the sword with electricity from one of the clouds, then start attacking each individual tail entity. You will need to draw your attacks quickly before she has a chance to paint her own attack and block yours. I suggest using some quick, small Cherry Bombs to weaken the little buggers. As you destroy each piece of her rear end she'll have less and less tails until she's down to just one: her own. Once her true bodily form is revealed it's time to really stick it to her. Use a whole lot of Cherry Bombs and your weapons to defeat her for good. Watch the end of yet another evil being, but as the scene suggests there is more explore in the extreme north. For now, make your way all the way back to Shinshu Field. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.17 Frigid Wastes of Kamui ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shinshu Field =============== Head to the east side and use Catwalk to get to the large stone building on the highest hill in Shinshu Field. You know, the one you've been looking at since the beginning of the game but could never reach. Use Thunderstorm to light up the familiar nine-pronged sword and open the doorway to Kamui, land to the north. Kamui ======= Run along and save, then proceed into the large area. Defeat the Namahage, the common enemy for Kamui, and enter the hut. Inside you'll find Oki, the Oina Warrior, who will quickly escape to the blizzard. Follow him out there to initiate the battle. Oki ===== Avoid his dashes and slashes and follow through with attacks from your strongest weapon (Blade of Kusanagi with Gold Dust, perhaps) as well as Cherry Bombs. His human form will not be too tough as long as you keep moving. Next he transforms into a large blue wolf. Keep at him with Cherry Bombs and your weapon, even when he releases the ice clones to attack you. Definitely try and avoid those dashes where he freezes you, but simply by hopping out of the way. If you stay too far away from him you'll never get a hit in. Kamui ======= After his defeat, head north to the village Oki spoke of. Look for Yoichi, the archer from City Checkpoint and N. Ryoshima Coast, and talk to him. It seems he's feeling a bit under the weather after the last few encounters with Ammy. Stand next to him and use Thunderstorm when his arrow is flying through the air to blow up the boulder in the distance. This will reveal the Guardian Sapling for Kamui. Use Bloom to restore it and all of Kamui back to normal. Head north and defeat the new Igloo Turtle enemy, then continue north along the west side until you find the path leading up to Wep'keer. Wep'keer ========== Head to west Wep'keer and follow the path that leads to the building all the way at the top. Approach the front door to find Samickle, top warrior of the Oina tribe. Talk to him for a while to get a rude welcome, then leave back to the entrance. Kai, another member of the Oina tribe, will approach and ask that you accompany her back to her place. There you can chat it up and hear all about what's going down in Wep'keer. After the conversation, head back to Kemu's place at the top of the village. Talk to him for a while to learn that your next destination is Yoshpet, a mysterious forest in east Kamui. For now, head north to Laochi Lake. Laochi Lake ============= Get to the small shack at the north end of the path and speak with the priestess. She'll give you the Sewaprolo, a charm that you'll need to get to Yoshpet. Head all the way back to Kamui when you're ready and stocked up on items. Kamui ======= Head to the east side and enter the area with evil branches looming over the entrance. That leads to Yoshpet. Yoshpet ========= Run right in to find our divine friend Waka just lounging about as usual. Talk to him and continue into the forest to find Kai. Save before talking to her, then proceed into the bowels of Yoshpet. It's not tough as long as you follow Kai the entire time. Some thorned gates will require a high jump to get through, and avoid the trees and snowballs by high jumping as well. Get to the end of the path and then enter the stump. Ponc'tan ========== Ponc'tan is quite a big place, and I recommend you walk around and explore every part of the village. When you're ready to continue the story, enter the middle building to the north. There you will find Ishaku, the village elder. It turns out he's Issun's estranged grandfather, and he knows Ammy! He was Ammy's companion during the first battle with Orochi 100 years ago. Once that's taken care of, turn around and leave Ponc'tan. Yoshpet ========= Issun's eager to leave, but little Miya from the village will come out to greet him before he gets the chance. His rudeness puts her in her place, leaving you free to continue up to Inner Yoshpet. Inner Yoshpet =============== Like before, simply follow the path and follow the arrows when they appear. This time you'll face moving thorned gates, more ice blocks and snowballs, and even a wall that requires you to use Catwalk. All in all it's the same thing. At the end of the path you'll find the Spirit Gate and an origin mirror. Go ahead and save your game, then approach the gate. Issun's blade will part the mighty doors, but Oki will tag along for the ride. Prepare for some weird deja vu... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.18 Nippon's Sordid Past ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kamiki Village ================ Well hey, it's certainly been a while since you were last here! Although the village seems different... Talk to "Shakuya" and then head down to Kamiki. You'll find that the villagers all seem to have forgotten Ammy or gotten confused, as they all seem to call her Shiranui. Head over to Susano's place and tackle the guy sleeping on the grass to wake him up. If you're suspecting what you should be, this place isn't the Kamiki you knew. It's actually Kamiki Village 100 Years Ago, and that's not Susano... it's Nagi! Nagi ====== Nagi's actually not as tough as his legend proclaims. I suggest using your strongest glaive and charging it for attack, then jump and slash down to cause major damage. Repeat that attack and avoid the flying swords to defeat Nagi and knock him out cold. Kamiki Village ================ Now, if you've ever watched a time travel film you know that it's not a good idea to mess with past events. By knocking out Nagi you've effectively kept him from heading out to defeat Orochi, along with Shiranui. Head over to Nami's place and you'll find her bathing in the pond. Slowly walk up to the robe and pick it up, then slowly walk away. Run back to Nagi to strap him up with the robe to complete the sacrificial ensemble. Lug Nagi over to Moon Cave. Shinshu Field =============== Before you can get there, however, you'll be facing some new enemies. The clay samurais and clay soldiers are nothing major at this point, so easily dispatch them and move along. Head to the Moon Cave (now located in south-east Shinshu) and approach the cave. Defeat the Dogus then get a little closer to initiate a scene in which Nagi wakes up. Unfortunately, Orochi can taste a fake. Nagi gets spit back out, leaving Ammy and Issun trapped in a familiar situation. Enter the Moon Cave (no wandering around underground this time) and pick up the 8 Purification Sake along the way. At the top of the stairs you'll find Orochi's domain. True Orochi ============= So, this is supposed to be Orochi "at his peak", but the guy's, er, guys ARE, a push over. Equip your strongest glaive and get ready to relive the exact same battle as before. Stuff that sake into each one of the eight heads by using Waterspout. After getting enough of the heads drunk, Orochi will fall and give you access to the bell. Run up along one of the necks and attack the bell with your strongest main weapon to damage Orochi. If one round isn't enough, repeat the sake-thon and finish off the bell to bring Orochi down to earth. The next phase of the battle will be against each individual head. Get in front of a head (avoid the neighboring heads) and dodge the attacks. Use Waterspout when it roars to get some more sake in there and get it drunk. Attack the head directly to damage and eventually knock it out. After the eight heads have fallen, you'll need to use Crescent to paint the moon in the sky and power up Nagi's sword, just as before. The difference is now each head will come with a glowing Japanese character that fades away, and if it fades you'll need to start over. Slash them all and leave the final head to Nagi's Celestial Cleaver. After some narration and the details of how exactly Shiranui (aka Ammy) died all those years ago, you'll return to Inner Yoshpet to resume the quest to save Kamui from the Day of Darkness. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.19 To the Top of Ezofuji ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inner Yoshpet =============== Take Lika and make your way back to Lake Laochi at the base of Ezofuji. Lake Laochi ============= Head up the western path to find the Assun Gate open and the villagers trying to shut it. After the few scenes, pass through the gate to enter the depths of the Wawku Shrine. Wawku Shrine 1F ================= Run forward and start jumping up and down to avoid the cannon fire. Get to the door at the end to enter the main part of the Wawku Shrine. Follow the ice path to the right and quickly get to the other side. Head into the east room. In here, your goal is to balance the weights in the middle of the room. Start by using Fireburst to melt the two ice blocks on the weight, then lift two of those houseplants and put them on the weight. Use Bloom on both to make them grow and balance the weights. Use the new path to blow the ice boulder onto the switch on the other side by using Galestorm. Grab the key from the new room and return to the main chamber. Open the door and enter the middle of the tower. Fireburst the ice block and then Waterspout yourself up to 2F. Wawku Shrine 2F ================= Run around to the other side and use Catwalk up climb up to 3F. Wawku Shrine 3F ================= Run past the cannonfire and use Veil of Mist to slow down the spinning platforms and cross to the other side. Get to the top to reach 4F. Wawku Shrine 4F ================= Hit the floor button to blow up the cannons and stop the spinning platforms, then enter the west hall. Use Veil of Mist again to get past the spinning gears and exit out to the exterior of Ezofuji. Follow the icy path until you get back down to another section of 3F, next to a large machine. Wawku Shrine 3F ================= Fight off the Great Tengu with a good, strong glaive, then approach the machine blowing snow out of its business end. Unfreeze the handle on the left then hit the lever so the eye of each spinning cog stops at the right spot. - First lever pull: Left cog eye is at the top. - Second lever pull: Middle cog is on the right. - Third lever pull: Right cog eye is on the left. After you stop the machine, fill in the constellation to complete the set and earn the Blizzard brush power from Itegami the bull. Use that to freeze the spider and get back up to 4F. Wawku Shrine 4F ================= Return to the main tower section of 4F, then freeze the nearby spider and jump up to 5F. Wawku Shrine 5F ================= Run along and freeze the first spider to get to the other side of the gap. Use Inferno and the torches to light up the ice block across the huge gap and then Vine yourself over to that flower bud. Use Catwalk to climb up the wall to the next ledge, then freeze the two spiders. Keep jumping and freezing spiders until you reach the door on floor 6F. Wawku Shrine 6F ================= Use Veil of Mist to cross over the spinning gears, and make sure to grab the map from the chest along the way. Continue north by breaking through the door with a Fireburst. The next hallway has two slowly spinning platforms and one quick one on fire. Hop over the first two and freeze the third to proceed. The next hallway requires you to use Blizzard from the far off icicle to build a bridge over the hole. After that, we return to the exterior. Fight and freeze your way through until you get to the next door. Here you'll need to use Galestorm to get past the flaming pots, and perhaps Veil of Mist to get past cannon at the end. The final hall that points south will have breakable glass floors (not too bad) and another cannon (really bad). Get across the first section by jumping across, then use Veil of Mist to quickly run past the cannon to the final room at the end. Save your game and run up to 7F. Wawku Shrine 7F ================= Now, we finally meet one of the twin demons of Ezofuji. Prepare to battle... Nechku ======== Nechku will throw ice spears, fire balls, and he'll charge at you for some close combat. All attacks can be dodged, but in order to defeat him you'll need to deflect his ice spears and fireballs back at him to weaken him. When you see stars, go in for the weapon attacks and massive damage. It won't take long to defeat Nechku. Wawku Shrine 7F ================= It seems all is going well, however just then Lechku and Oki will come flying in through the arena. Oki's recklessness will prove to be old Ammy's downfall as she is forced to take a hit in order to save him. Watch the scene unfold as the twin demons fly off to the other peak of Ezofuji. Pick up the cog that was dropped during the battle and talk to Oki to return to floor 4F. Wawku Shrine 4F ================= Head to the other door on this floor, the one with a circle opening. The cog from the battle will fit right into the slot and grant you access to the other side of Ezofuji. Use the cannons to blow up the red and yellow cannons on the other side, and don't worry if you happen to miss one. Use Blizzard to create a bridge across to the other side. Some Veil of Mist and a well-aimed Power Slash will help to knock the cannon balls back at the cannons and finish them off. Melt the ice to the left of the door to reveal an ice ball. Use Galestorm to roll it into the next room full of flaming cogs and use it to cool them off and cross to the north-west corner. Blow up the ground to grab the key (while still using Blizzard to continually freeze the cogs), then head to the south-west corner and continue along the path. Save your game and stock up on battle items if you need them, then proceed into the battle against... Nechku and Lechku =================== This battle can get tedious with the camera's confusion on which monster to settle with, but try your best to keep both of them in view. They'll toss items such as eggs, bombs, poison plants, fireballs, and icicles, and you should avoid almost all of those things by running around and jumping. However, when you see the fireballs and icicles, use Power Slash to deflect them and damage the monsters. When they get weak enough they'll get confused and fly aimlessly. That's your chance to hold Oki's bow string back and release him in order to bring down the creatures. When they are down simply charge in and attack with your strongest weapon. If you want to cause additional damage, slash the egg or light up the bomb when they are holding them in mid-air. Once you defeat the mechanical demons, Ezofuji will be free from evil and peace will be restored to Wep'keer. Now you begin your final quest... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.20 Quest's End at Ark of Yamato ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lake Laochi/Ezofuji ===================== STOP!!! You are about to proceed past the point of no return. At this point I highly suggest you go back and complete all side quests, collect all Praise, and wrap up any loose ends that you want to wrap up before you complete the game. You should also create a save file outside the ark, in case you ever need to come back to the pre-ark Nippon to complete anything you missed. When you're ready, head up the rainbow path to the Ark of Yamato and agree to go past the point of no return. Watch the scene unfold, and say goodbye... Ark of Yamato =============== Talk to Marco there on the side to buy or sell stuff (stock up on battle items if you need them), then proceed across the bridge. You now have five paths to choose from, and each path will lead you to a boss enemy that you previously defeat. We may as well start from the left side. Ninetails =========== This enemy has a multitude of attacks, but at this point they should not pose a problem. When you see her sword rise up it's time to attack. Use Thunderstorm to hit the sword with electricity from one of the clouds, then start attacking each individual tail entity. You will need to draw your attacks quickly before she has a chance to paint her own attack and block yours. As you destroy each piece of her rear end she'll have less and less tails until she's down to just one: her own. Once her true bodily form is revealed it's time to really stick it to her. Crimson Helm ============== Ol' Helmy has a few attacks, but none that are particularly bad. To attack Crimson Helm you need to approach from behind (to avoid those swords and flames) and jump on his back, then hit his helmet. Keep hitting the helmet until the armor falls off and exposes the flaming skeleton. Use Galestorm to blow away the flames and then attack the skeleton directly with your main weapon. Spider Queen ============== She will attack by charging at you, summoning red orbs to throw at you, or using her tendrils to attack. Do the same from two more flowers to two more hooks and this will force her to open up and reveal all those eyeballs inside her. Bust the eyeballs to defeat her. True Orochi ============= Stuff that sake into each one of the eight heads by using Waterspout. After getting enough of the heads drunk, Orochi will fall and give you access to the bell. Run up along one of the necks and attack the bell with your strongest main weapon to damage Orochi and bring him down to the ground. The next phase of the battle will be against each individual head. Get in front of a head (avoid the neighboring heads) and dodge the attacks. Use Waterspout when it roars to get some more sake in there and get it drunk. Attack the head directly to damage and eventually knock out each head. Blight ======== Blight's power includes speedy sword slashes from across the room and a move where his swords encircle him and then shoot out in all directions. To attack Blight, use Veil of Mist when Blight teleports around the arena and attack while he's floating across. Ark of Yamato =============== After you defeat the five bosses and get more details about the fall of the Celestials, head to the center of the ark and enter the portal. Ruler of Darkness Yami! ========================= Watch it all unfold as Waka's true past is revealed. After the scenes, you'll be left powerless. Start by avoid his attacks and hit him when you see the opportunity. After enough hits you'll regain Rejuvenation. Twelve more to go... Continue attacking until you get Power Slash, after which Yami will be dazed. Attack with your strongest weapon to retrieve another brush power, then use Bloom on Yami's confused orb to reveal Yami's true form. Go on into his orb and attack the little creature inside to weaken Yami. He will then restore the arena and turn into a green flaming orb. Wait for the flames to subside then quickly attack to get Waterspout. Use Waterspout to retard the flames and continue the assault. In the third phase Yami will turn into a slot machine orb. Use Power Slash to hit the three slots and receive his attacks. Use Power Slash again to deflect the attacks back at him. You'll also get a new brush power for each jackpot you manage to hit. As the battle progresses Yami will appear at the top of the orb. Power Slash him or use elemental attacks to cause more damage. Phase 4 will involve Yami's orb turning into a large, clumsy robot with tiny legs and tendril arms. Attack Yami when he appears in front of the orb, and avoid his attacks when he's tucked away inside. Once you have Thunderstorm, use it to electrify Yami when he's outside the robot and make him roll out for a good ol' ass kickin'. As this phase of the battle progresses he will use missiles, flaming lasers, and his tendrils to attack. All can be avoided by staying away and only attacking when you see him appear from within the orb. After this battle the true power of Amaterasu, reinforced by the faith of her friends and those she protects, will finally kick in. And just in the nick of time, too... Yami ====== This is it, the final battle! Start by using Sunrise to create a sun in the chamber, weakening Yami and forcing him out of the orb/hand. Attack with your strongest weapon, then continue attacking when he hides in the palm of the skeletal hand until Yami is no more. The End... ============ Well, it's been a wild ride. Some sadness, lots of gladness, and more sake than any game in the history of the world. I hope you had fun... I know I did. Stick around after the credits to get more fun stuff. Oh, and as always... THANKS FOR PLAYING!!! =============================================================================== ===== 4.0 SIDE QUESTS ========================================================= Kamiki Village ================ - Komuso Komuso is the guy wearing a helmet near the sacred deck. Talk to him to initiate a battle. If you defeat the green imps under the time limit (about 12 seconds) you will be rewarded with Praise. - Mrs. Orange Talk to Mrs. Orange at the river to hear about her lost laundry pole. Use Rejuvenation to paint a straight line between the two wooden poles to the right of Mrs. Orange. That will cheer her up, but now she needs the sun to be closer to her. Use Sunrise in the sky above here to bring the sun. She will reward you with Praise and Cherry Cakes if you stop by her house later that night. - Mushi Talk to the little kid walking around with his dog in Kamiki Village. He'll challenge you to beat his dog's record of 9 turnips dug up from his mom's garden. Run in and start digging up a turnip, which will trigger his mom to go into chase mode. Avoid her and use Power Slash to knock her out, then go for the next turnip. Repeat this process until you've dug up 9 turnips, then dig up the final one and carry it back to Mushi. Praise will be your reward. - Camille and Camellia After completely restoring Sakuya back to her old self at Kamiki Village, approach her tree from around the gate to talk to Camille and Camellia. Camille will not believe her sister about the tree blossoming, so give her a little bump on the bum to make her believe. You'll get rewarded with Praise just for that! - Sakuya After completely restoring Sakuya back to her old self at Kamiki Village, approach her tree through the gate. She will reward you with a fruit each time you restore a Guardian Sapling, and each fruit will contain a sweet reward. Shinshu Field =============== - Nameless Man After defeating Orochi, talk to Nameless Man. He'll give you a vase. You can then take that vase to any of the Guardian Statues scattered around Shinshu Field to get Praise. He will produce one new vase each day (up until 4, then you have to return later in the game to get the 5th one). #1 Just south of Nameless Man's house, along the path. #2 Inside a cave next to a cat statue in the north-east part of Shinshu. Blow the cave open with a Cherry Bomb. #3 To the east of the dojo, along the path. It is next to a boulder. #4 On the beach below the steep ramp that leads towards the Moon Cave. Look for it tucked away right next to the ramp. #5 After defeating Orochi, a Guardian Statue will appear on the path that used to lead to the Moon Cave. - Ida Head to the east side of Shinshu field, then turn south when you hit the cliff wall. You'll find that Ida the express messenger has fallen and he can't get up. If you have a Traveler's Charm you'll automatically offer it to him, but if you don't have one you'll need to get one. Your reward will be the oh so sweet Praise points. Later, talk to Ida while he's running around to challenge him to a race. Tackle Ida during the race to get more Praise. Challenge him a second time and avoid the urchins he drops (little cheater!), then a third time after you complete Oni Island to get the Gimmick Gear and some Praise. - Mika Get to the south side of Shinshu Field and head towards Lake Harami. Enter the Moon Shrine and talk to Mika to get his wanted list of monsters. These monsters can only be found at night. The monsters are: Biwamaru the Vandal: Found immediately after getting Mika's wanted list. Akuzo the Interloper: North-west Shinshu Field. Toya of the Short Temper: North-east Shinshu Field. Onimaru the Incorrigible: Just a bit north of the Guardian Sapling. Izo the String Cutter: On the beach next to Kama the pyrotechnist's house. Talk to Mika after defeating all the monsters to get Gold Dust as a reward. - Dojo / Onigiri Sensei You can find the Dojo on the west side of Shinshu Field. Inside, the fighting master himself offers to teach you new battle techniques... provided you can cover the fee, of course. God Technique: Fleetfoot = 10000 Yen Reflector Technique: 4 Winds = 5000 Yen Rosary Technique: Spirit Storm = 7000 Yen God Technique: Golden Fury = 100000 Yen Each technique you choose to learn will come with a brief tutorial by Onigiri Sensei using a dummy. - Tama After running through the required quest with Tama the pyrotechnist, return when you get Cherry Bomb 2. Create 2 Cherry Bombs to get some Praise. Once you get Cherry Bomb 3 you can create 3 of them to get Praise and a Stray Bead. Agata Forest ============== - Sleepy the Bear After you restore the Guardian Sapling, run up to the path that leads back to Shinshu Field. That bear from the cave will be there sleeping, and ol' Issun decides to name him Sleepy. Run down the hill and roll that big cabbage up the hill to Sleepy. He'll take the new perch and give you Praise for your troubles. The next sphere you can give him is found after you close the Devil Gate near Karude the hunter. Roll the walnut to Sleepy for more Praise. The final sphere to give to Sleepy is a honey comb attached to a branch on one of the southern islands. Bring it down with Power Slash and roll it up to Sleepy to get more Praise. - Kokari After you restore the Tsuta Ruins and overcome the obstacle at the Narai River, Kokari will be sitting at the south island for some more fishing. Here you can catch fish to sell to merchants and complete the Fish Tome. Taka Pass =========== - Tea Master After restoring Taka Pass to normal, talk to the Tea Master. She'll go on about her business and a beloved Teacup. Continue east from the merchant and you'll find some moles gathered around in a circle. Talk to Moley, leader of the Molesters, to engage in a whack-a-mole game. Stand in the middle of the circle and look for the blue mole to appear, then tackle him. It'll take a few tries to get him, but after you whack him three times you should be good to go. Take the Teacup back to the Tea Master to get the Golden Mushroom. - Tea Customer Talk to the Tea Customer after you've started looking for Canine Warriors. He'll bring up a certain item he needs to give his wife... a Pinwheel. Head over to Kusa Village and buy the Pinwheel from the Merchant for 1000 Yen, then give it to the Tea Customer for some Praise. - Spring Girl Head to Kusa Village, but on the way there the path will split to the left (Kusa Village) and the right (Mermaid Spring). Take the right path to find a Devil Gate and Spring Girl. She'll mention that the spring used to be there, but it has dried up. Go ahead and enter the gate to defeat the monsters and bring back Mermaid Spring. - Bingo Find him at the west side of Taka Pass, next to the City Checkpoint. Use Galestorm to clear away the pile of leaves in front of him then talk to him to initiate a digging game, much like Mr. Bamboo's game at Sasa Sanctuary. The goal here is a block of ground at the far right corner of the area. Start by using a few Cherry Bombs to get him down to the lower level, but DO NOT use Cherry Bombs on that bottom level. You will run the risk of trapping him in a gap. Use Power Slash to break the boulder blocks and tackle or digging attacks to break the rest. When you reach the water blocks, use Waterspout to push him up and quickly break any blocks at the top to keep him going. Continue making your way to the right until you eventually reach a row of blocks at the very bottom that head straight to the right. Tackle them all or Power Slash 'em to reach the end, then dig at the spot where's he's standing to find the treasure. - Sasa Traveler Look for him directly north of the Sasa Gate, in Taka Pass. Kusa Village ============== - Haruka Enter Mrs. Plum's Inn after dark to find Haruka the ill-fated beauty locked in the room to the right upstairs. Knock down her wall to talk to her and get her revenge list. To find these monsters you'll need to be in Taka Pass at night. Bulging Eyes the Despised: At the east side near the cluster of bamboo. Weirdo the Abhorrent: Just east of the Cutter's house along the main path. Death Fin the Repugnant: At the west end near Bingo the excavator. Red Devil the Detested: At the east side inside the cluster of bamboo. Curse Gill the Repulsive: Exit the south cave and turn left to find him. Return to Haruka to get Gold Dust as your reward. - Flower Girl After obtaining Galestorm, use it on the small windmill above the well in the middle of Kusa Village. The flower girl will reward you with Praise. - Komuso Find Komuso (the helmet guy from Kamiki Village) in a bamboo patch on the way down the mountain. You'll first need to defeat him at Kamiki Village to get him to appear here. Beat a time of about 23 seconds to get some Praise. - Kusa 5 After completing Oni Island, return to Kusa Village and enter the Gale Shrine. Find Princess Fuse and the Kusa 5 ready to battle you again. Stock up on a lot of tool items, especially Holy Bones, Vengeance Slips, and Steel Sake, before deciding to fight them. Use your strongest weapon, lots of Cherry Bombs, and keep equipping those Vengeance Slips to avoid getting damage. After defeating the Kusa 5 (or should I say Kusa 8) you'll get a bead and some Praise. Ryoshima Coast ================ - Dojo / Onigiri Sensei You can find the Dojo on the small island on the west side of Ryoshima Coast. Inside, the fighting master himself offers to teach you new battle techniques... provided you can cover the fee, of course. God Technique: Holy Eagle = 20000 Yen God Technique: Digging Champ = 30000 Yen God Technique: Fleetfoot = 10000 Yen Reflector Technique: 4 Winds = 5000 Yen Reflector Technique: 5 Winds = 20000 Yen Rosary Technique: Spirit Storm = 7000 Yen Rosary Technique: Spirit Armageddon = 30000 Yen Glaive Technique: 3 Shears = 40000 Yen God Technique: Wailing Mirror = 40000 Yen God Technique: Golden Fury = 100000 Yen God Technique: Brown Rage = 2000000 Yen Each technique you choose to learn will come with a brief tutorial by Onigiri Sensei using a dummy. - Animal Lover Find the Animal Lover along the path in west Ryoshima Coast. After closing a Devil Gate at the west end of Ryoshima Coast, near the path to Sei-an City, a bunch of hares will appear. There will be a lonely black and white among the group of all white hares. Feed it and take it to the Animal Lover to get Praise and a Stray Bead. - Hayate Head to the west beach at Ryoshima Coast to find super fast Hayate running along the beach. Talk to Hayate while he's running around to challenge him to a race. Avoid the urchins he drops and tackle him to get some Praise. Challenge him a second time for more Praise, then a third race after completing Oni Island and beat him to get a bead. - Bandit Spider You'll find a Bandit Spider inside the stone hole on the left along the path to the Guardian Sapling. Defeat this spider just like you defeated the Spider Queen at Tsuta Ruins. Later, come back to the cavern to find a series of Devil Gates. Sei-an City (C. Qtr) ====================== - Masu After getting rid of the green mist in Sei-an City, look for Masu near the gate to Sei-an City A. Qtr. Talk to him at night in Yama's Restaurant to get the list. To find these monsters you'll need to be in Ryoshima Coast at night. Dishonorable Tempest: On the west beach. Foul Thunder: Near the Animal Lover on the west beach. Petulant Lightning: Near the Epicurean Bell. Storm of Degradation: On the east side. Shame Flasher: Along the path to the Guardian Sapling. Return to Masu in the day to get Gold Dust as your reward. - Camille and Camellia Those girls from Kamiki Village are here in town only if you already met them and completed their side quest at Kamiki. Like before, Camellia is being rather rude to her little sister. Use Bloom and place a dot in front of them to make a tree grow. Then, get the Deluge brush power and create a rainstorm immediately after you create the tree to convince Camille and get a bead from Camellia. - Blossom Find her just north of the Kimono House. She'll talk about her sick father and that he needs Herbal Medicine. You can buy the Herbal Medicine from the Tool Dealer and offer it to Blossom for some Praise points. After restoring all the trees in town in Mr. Flower's side quest, return to Blossom and tackle her Papa to wake him up. - Charcoal Girl There's a little girl wearing purple on the east side of town who runs out of charcoal to draw on the ground. Buy the Charcoal from the Tool Dealer and give it to her. Now, when you talk to her you'll see a symbol next to her. Go to Mr. Chic on the west side of town and draw that symbol on his kimono fabric. If you did it correctly he'll say "something happen" in red text. - Pentagram Star (start from the top of the left arm) - Heart (start from the bottom and paint to the left) - V symbol (start on the left) - Four Circles (make sure they are connected) - "Heaven" Kanji (one horizontal followed by a slightly shorter horizontal below it, then one stroke that starts at the middle of the top line and downward, then make a wide turn down-left when you reach the second line. Start the fourth stroke from the middle of the second horizontal and make a wide curve to the left) Talk to her after each picture to get Praise points and eventually a Stray Bead. - Ferry Riders The ferry is missing, but there are still people who need to get somewhere using the canal. Looks like it's your time to shine! Create a Lily Pad in the water in front of people and they'll hop on. Use Galestorm to guide them where they are pointing, but make sure to avoid the whirlpools in the water. If you get them there quickly you get 30 Praise points, however if you're too slow you get less points. You can give each person a ride more than once in order to get all the points. Aspiring Carpenter Find the Aspiring Carpenter (the guy who used to be in the dry canal) at the east side port. He needs a canal ride to his boss' house in the north- west corner. East Street Girl Find the girl who wants to go to the East Street at Naguri the carpenter's house. Weapon Dealer Girl You'll find her on the west side port of the central area. He wants to get to the carpenter's house on the east side of town. - Yama Yama is the chef of the restaurant next to the gate to the Aristocrats' Quarter. Talk to him to find out he's looking for a Golden Mushroom. You can get that Golden Mushroom from the Tea Master at Taka Pass. After you give him the mushroom he'll prepare his ultimate dish. Help him by painting a sideways 8 (AKA the infinity symbol) in the fire to start it up. You'll be rewarded with the Fireburst brush power, Praise points, and lots of food! - Mr. Flower Talk to the kindly old guy in the north-east corner of the Commoners' Quarters to find out about the cursed trees. Use Bloom on all 20 of the cursed trees in town (including the one behind his house, the one inside the house, and the one on his head) and talk to him to initiate the Gura Shuffle! Follow along behind Mr. Flower, and when you see the purple mist disappear from the trees use Bloom. - Hayazo If you talk to everyone in town you'll find out that most of the citizens have had something stolen or gone missing. To find Hayazo the thief, wait until night and use Inferno or Fireburst to light the three large torches in town. Then, head over to the south-east corner and use Power Slash on the brown rocks near the guard to find Hayazo. He'll then challenge you to defeat him in a race... but it's not really a race. Simply catch up to them and hit them in the right order with the correct brush power. The red one needs Inferno, blue one needs Waterspout, brown one needs Power Slash, and First race (2 runners): - Glass Watch goes to Samurai Dandy in the south part of town. Second Race (3 runners): - Millet Dumplings go to Momotaro on the west side of town (daytime only). Third Race (4 runners, and pay attention to the two of the same color): - Chrysanthemum Hairpin goes to the drunk City Dweller in Yama's Restaurant at night. Fourth Race (5 runners, use Thunderstorm from Raiden the ghost at night) - Tao Mask goes to Abe at the hidden chamber in the south-west corner. Use Waterspout to get up there. Sei-an City (A. Qtr) ====================== - Benkei After giving Benkei the Blinding Snow rod and helping him catch the Living Sword, Benkei will be sitting on the bridge for some more fishing. Here you can catch fish to sell to merchants and complete the Fish Tome. - Komuso You'll find him in the Sei-an City Aristocrats' Quarters, but only after you have defeated him at Kamiki and at Kusa Village. Beat a time of about 24 seconds to get a Stray Bead and Praise. - Gen First complete Oni Island, then race Ida at Shinshu Field to get the Gimmick Gear. Now head to Gen's tower in the north-east part of Sei-an City A. Qtr. Use Catwalk to get up to the chamber at the top and give him the Gimmick Gear. Paint a lightning bolt to connect the wiring and get the electricity running. Use Thunderbolt to open the chest and get a bead. N. Ryoshima Coast =================== - Fisherman / Umi Purchase the Marlin Rod from the Tool Dealer in Sei-an City or the Merchant in N. Ryoshima Coast and then head to the Fisherman on the large south-west island in N. Ryoshima Coast. "Offer" him the Marlin Rod and agree to help him catch it. After you catch it, get over to Umi's Restaurant on the coast and agree to watch Umi prepare the Marlin. When the moment arrives, paint three horizontal slashes across the screen. The will unleash Whirlwind, a new brush power. - Divine Spring: Bakugami Look for a small island in N. Ryoshima Coast that has a ramp protruding from the south end. Run up that ramp and use a Cherry Bomb to get into the hole. Inside you'll find a Divine Spring. Offer over 100,000 Yen to get the ability to draw 2 Cherry Bombs at once. - Divine Spring: Tachigami Look for a small island in right in the middle of N. Ryoshima Coast. Run up and user Power Slash on the lone boulder to find the hole into the spring. Offer over 60,000 Yen to get the ability to perform Power Slash 2, a stronger slash than the first one! - Urashima Go to Dragon Palace and restore the grass over the spot where the Water Dragon used to be. Take the Treasure Box from there to Urashima in the beach house at N. Ryoshima Coast to get a bead. - Yoichi Talk to Yoichi, the guard from City Checkpoint, over near the golden pool in east N. Ryoshima Coast. Draw a Waterspout from the golden pool to his arrow as it flies through the air to make the gray peach grow. Slash it down to get some Praise points. - Bandit Spider You'll find a Bandit Spider inside the stone hole on the mid-sized island in south-west N. Ryoshima Coast. Defeat this spider just like you defeated the Spider Queen at Tsuta Ruins. Later, come back to the cavern to find a series of Devil Gates. Dragon Palace =============== - Soothing Spring Talk to the big girl at the Soothing Spring then dig a hole in the rock in the middle of the dancers. You'll then engage in a digging mini game. Unlike previous digging mini games, you won't start with the person you're trying to guide. She'll be stuck at the top, so you need to begin by going to the right side and simply breaking, bombing, and slashing your way to the top. Once you reach the top, start breaking, bombing, and slashing your way straight down. You'll eventually reach the bottom again so she can point out the digging spot. After restoring the spring, talk to her again. As they run around, use your brush to create a counter-clockwise swirl in the spring. That will completely restore it to its natural state. You'll be rewarded with Fountain brush power. Kamui ======= - Dogo / Onigiri Sensei You'll find this dojo in the south-east corner of Kamui. You'll find the spring inside. Offer about 300,000 Yen to summon Bakugami and learn Cherry Bomb 3, which allows you to create 3 Cherry Bombs at a time! - Blockhead Grande Go inside the hole in the middle of the frozen river in Kamui to find Blockhead Grande, strongest of the Blockheads! This one has eight weak points, which is a daunting task for any player I'm sure. I would like to say I beat him using my eyes and a good memory... but I didn't. :) The easiest way to beat this guy is to use a combo of a sheet of paper taped to the television and a video recorder. Tape the sheet of paper over the area where Blockhead Grande's weak points appear, then pop in a blank video cassette and record the weak points. Hold down the R1 button to open the brush screen and then play back the video a few times to mark the correct order and position of the weak points. Once that's done simply mark the right spots with the brush to destroy him. Open the chests to get Gold Dust, a Silver Pocket Watch, and a Stray Bead. - Wali In west Kamui there is a hut and a guy named Wali inside. Talk to him to get his Record of Penance. You'll find these monsters in Kamui, and only at night. Creeping Igloo: East and slightly south of Wali's house. Snowy Stigma: Near the entrance to Yoshpet. Stalking Blizzard: Next to the frozen waterfall in north Kamui. Cold Remorse: In front of Wali's house. Frozen Penitence: Near the Blockhead Grande hole in Kamui. Show Wali the list when you're done to get some Gold Dust. - Bandit Spider You'll find a Bandit Spider inside a cave beyond a cracked wall in the north. Defeat this spider just like you defeated the Spider Queen at Tsuta Ruins. Later, come back to the cavern to find a series of Devil Gates. I recommend you tackle this series of gates when you have THE strongest possible weapon, a lot of items (I'm talking 20 or more of each battle item), and about an hour. Your reward will be a stray bead. Wep'keer ========== - Wep'keer Square Head to the north-west door on the side of the cliff in Wep'keer to find Wep'keer Square. Inside you'll find a kid named Otter Mask who wants you to take the snowball nearby and roll it around to make it bigger. Take the snowball and start gathering up the lumps of snow gathered around the area. Once you get them all, roll it back to the kid and talk to him. If it's not big enough, leave the area and return to bring back all the snow. Roll it around and keep checking back in with the kid until you get rewarded with Praise points. Yoshpet ========= - Kai Talk to Kai at the entrance to Yoshpet after completing the Wawku Shrine and she'll challenge you to a race. To beat her, you'll need to sprint a lot (press Square), avoid all ice obstacles, and learn all the shortcuts. You definitely won't beat her if you stick to the main path. Once you beat her you'll get a stray bead. Ponc'tan ========== - Ishaku Go back to Ishaku's place in Ponc'tan after completing the Wawku Shrine to get some Praise points and a stray bead. - Mrs. Seal After you talk to Ishaku and get all the details, follow the path around his tree to get to the top. Use Vine to reach the house across the gap and find Mrs. Seal. Agree to pay her the 99999 Yen, then paint a design of your choice on the canvas. The seal will then appear after you complete the game. If its swimming left you pull the pole to the right, and if it suddenly changes direction you do the same. The large fish are the ones that will really put up a fight, so make sure to watch the movements. Once it gets close enough press the button that appears on-screen to bring the fish out, then use Power Slash to finish it off. Larger fish will take more than one hit before they can be caught. The floral finisher should be used immediately after the health is gone and the enemy is floating slowly in mid-air to get a Demon Fang. - Green Imp A simple enemy defeated by any attacks. Floral Finisher: Power Slash - Red Imp Use Power Slash to get rid of the lute shield. Floral Finisher: Power Slash - Yellow Imp Wait for the imp to reappear from the ground then attack from behind. Floral Finisher: Galestorm - Black Imp Avoid the skulls and use Power Slash to get rid of them, then attack. Floral Finisher: Power Slash - Headless Guardian Use Power Slash and Cherry Bombs to defeat this monster. Floral Finisher: Cherry Bomb - Bell Guardian Attack from behind after it appears, much like a Yellow Imp. Floral Finisher: Power Slash - Halo Guardian Attack with Whirlwind or Galestorm to weaken it. Floral Finisher: Veil of Mist - Clay Drummer Defeat this guy like any other burrowing enemy: from behind. Floral Finisher: Veil of Mist - Clay Shogun The clay shoguns are nothing major by the time they appear, so easily dispatch them and move along. Floral Finisher: Veil of Mist - Bud Ogre Weaken the shield (Cherry Bombs!) to open the bud and expose the fruit. Floral Finisher: Bloom - Chimera Weaken it by using a Cherry Bomb, then cause major damage with a Power Slash. Floral Finisher: Power Slash - Igloo Turtle Use fire to open the igloo and then attack the creature within. Floral Finisher: Fireburst or Inferno - Dead Fish Use Power Slash to cut off the wings, and if they attach to you use a Power Slash or Cherry Bomb to shake them loose. Floral Finisher: Power Slash - Crow Tengu Cut them down from the air then attack until they turn gray and give you a chance to use Power Slash. Floral Finisher: Galestorm - Ubume Use Galestorm to blow away the umbrella and attack. Floral Finisher: Veil of Mist - Fire Eye Use Cherry Bombs or Galestorm to weaken it, then attack in full force with your main weapon. Floral Finisher: Galestorm - Ice Mouth Use Inferno if possible to weaken it, otherwise use a Cherry Bomb. Attack it with your main weapon and more Cherry Bombs to finish it off. Floral Finisher: Inferno - Thunder Ear Use Power Slash and Cherry Bombs to attack, as well as Galestorm. See the walkthrough for more details. - Orochi Waterspout and sake are the keys to defeating this beast. See the walkthrough for more details. - True Orochi Waterspout and sake are (once again) the keys to defeating this beast. See the walkthrough for more details. - Waka (1st Battle) Waka's primary attacks all involve his sword, so if you can keep a distance by using the beads to attack that would be your best bet. See the walkthrough for details. - Waka (2nd Battle) Waka's primary attacks all involve his sword, so if you can keep a distance by using the beads to attack that would be your best bet. See the walkthrough for details. - Blight Veil of Mist is the key to defeating this evil virus. See the walkthrough for more details. - Evil Rao Avoid all fire dagger attacks and keep moving to dodge the overhead strikes. Use plenty of Cherry Bombs and your strongest weapon, as well as an Exorcism Slip or two for good measure. Keep moving and attacking to defeat her. - Oki Avoid his dashes and slashes and follow through with attacks from your strongest weapon (Blade of Kusanagi with Gold Dust, perhaps) as well as Cherry Bombs. - Nagi Nagi's actually not as tough as his legend proclaims. I suggest using your strongest glaive and charging it for attack, then jump and slash down to cause major damage. Repeat that attack and avoid the flying swords to defeat Nagi and knock him out cold. - Dogu They're just a clay warrior like the rest of them, so use your strongest glaive once again and slice them down. - Ninetails First you must split Ninetails apart by using Thunderstorm on the sword, then destroy each spirit. Afterwards she will be open to regular attacks. - Canine Warrior Chu Jump to avoid his howl attack and use Cherry Bombs when he stands still, and do not touch those holes! See the walkthrough for more details. - Canine Warrior Jin Use your strongest weapon combined with Cherry Bomb to take him out, and avoid those little green "bombs"! See the walkthrough for details. - Canine Warrior Gi Jump to avoid his dash attacks and use Cherry Bombs when he stands still. See the walkthrough for more details. - Canine Warrior Tei Jump to avoid his howl attack and use Cherry Bombs when he stands still. See the Side Quests for more details. - Canine Warrior Rei Jump to avoid his howl attack and use Cherry Bombs when he stands still. See the Side Quests for more details. - Canine Warrior Shin Jump to avoid his howl attack and use Cherry Bombs when he stands still. See the Side Quests for more details. - Tube Fox Tube Fox is actually a set of 9 foxes that attack quickly but cause little damage. Use Cherry Bombs and your strongest weapon to defeat them. - Golden Demon Lechku Deflect its attack and fire Oki at him to weaken him, then use your strongest weapon. See the walkthrough for more details. - Silver Demon Nechku Deflect its attack and fire Oki at him to weaken him, then use your strongest weapon. See the walkthrough for more details. - Yami Yami takes on several forms during the final battle. Help, how do I beat [enemy name here]?! A. Check the Bestiary, or the walkthrough. Q. Where can I gets lots of Yen? A. Fighting enemies and completing side quests can yield a lot of cash, and towards the end of the game you can start earning Yen for each Praise point you get. However, the best way to get Yen is... fishing! Seriously, you sit there catching fish (preferably really large ones) and then sell them for loads of money. Q. I need Demon Fangs! A. That's not a question, but I'll help you anyway. I recommend purchasing Yellow Fury from the dojo in Ryoshima Coast, and start getting into the practice of using Floral Finishers during every boss fight. =============================================================================== ===== 14.0 LEGAL / MISC. ====================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 14.1 Version History ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- June 12, 2007: Version 1.1 ============================= Added some missed info. But, I do delete e-mails without a subject. Put 'Okami FAQ' or something similar in the subject line. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 14.4 Legal Stuff ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. ©CloverStudio Co., Ltd. 2006 All Rights Reserved.
