So I disagree.

I think you want to have a single thing for a story.  Sure, a  
directory can be thought of as a single thing.  But it can also be  
thought of as a pile of things.  That's why I prefer the idea of a  
zipfile.

Note that there's no reason this COULDN'T be specific to the XO port.   
On the other hand, if the other ports could happily choose between  
story-as-directory and story-as-zipfile more-or-less transparently,  
then that would be nifty.
